After my first thousand miles on a bike this year (thanks to my sweet GS500E) I realized I probably need better rearview mirrors. Safety first, you know. Esp. for a new "biker" like myself (MSF May 2006, GS500E'99 Aug 2006, five month reading this incredible site, etc.)
Everybody knows that stock mirrors mostly give you a nice view of your shoulders.. I don't want bar end mirrors (yet).. I checked Wiki and searched different options. I don't want to pay a lot (i.e. not more than $40 a piece)
I found these -- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/10mm-Mirror-Pair-Black-Suzuki-GSX550-GT750-GS1000-GT550_W0QQitemZ150074937490QQihZ005QQcategoryZ34284QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/10mm-Mirror-Pair-Black-Suzuki-GSX550-GT750-GS1000-GT550_W0QQitemZ150074937490QQihZ005QQcategoryZ34284QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
Do you think they are too short for my naked GS500E 1999 and won't give me a better view?
TIA
Welcome! Congrats on the new bike and the first long trip

Yes. From the looks of it, they are shorter than stock
i bought theses ones, they suck. dont buy them
If they're EMGO mirrors they'll making a cussing man out of a minister. One of mine does okay. The other side started flopping around because it was too loose. A little cyanacrylate fixed the flopping mirror problem but you shouldn't have to modify a defective product.
The mirrors you're talking about aren't any better than the stockers. The stalks are too short. Someone should be able to recommend a pair of good cheap mirrors that'll work good for you.
Some folks have used stock SV650 mirrors with good results. They shouldn't be too expensive.
The rectangle SV650 mirrors are tops... :thumb:
Thanks a lot guys for your advice! You all are incredible. I've been reading this site for a while and got a wealth of info from you all. I am really really appreciative of it. Guys like Kerry, Antibody, Scratch (just to name a few), even with post of 2-3 years old still give alot to a complete newbie like me.
I am good reparing cars, now I can say that about my GS . I have a bone stock GS500E. I bought it non-running with carbs stuck and since turned into a sweet running machine. I had about 7K miles. I was posponing the mods and valve check till it's too cold to ride. But hell I still was riding till the day after Christmas (a bit tough in Boston area with about 33F). So I am definitely hooked. "Never understood why dogs stick their heads out of the car windows till I rode a motorcycle". ;-). I read ALOT on motorcycling before venturing into it (a bit late in life at 37y.o., but still..).
Anyways, thanks for welcoming me. I will try to contribute as much as I can, too.
Keep 'em coming!
This mirror real bad. Also look at the back side looking like moppet mirror. Try honda hornet 900 mirror.
Welcome!! :thumb:
SV650 mirrors rock on the GS....and on the SV650S! :icon_mrgreen:
Has anyone tried Holeshot mirror extenders (for the sv650)? The bar fittings looks pretty similar to those used on the GS500.

Edit: Whoops, didn't realize you'd already checked it. If you find something cool that's not on there, add it!
