Title: Nothing wrong with my bike
Post by: Black Snowman on July 12, 2003, 10:18:52 PM
OK, so the tach light is out and I need to do that quick (wire came loose installing the windscreen) and it could use a paint job but MECHANICLY it's been fine.

So now with my pesky little oil leak solved (fill cap o-ring finially gave up after 9 years) I felt confident thrashing the bike a bit too and from work. Took some turns fast, practiced my emergency braking, and generally wringed the motors neck.

I was looking at a ZRX 1200R at the dealer but after reminding myself how fun the GS is I'm in no hurry to upgrade. I can't imagine the frustration associated with such a powerful bike and having to constantly hold back on the streets. Much less something like a R1 or GSXR 1000. How boring would it be to never be able to use 20% of the bikes potential without risking life and limb?

I haven't been hearing anyone raving about their GS lately so I thought I'd spread some love    :thumb:

 yeah i finally got frankenbike on the road. i woulda never thought the gs500 would be such a blast to run. it will always have a  special place in my garage, no matter what i end up on, it'll at least make a great commuter bike with some style. plus it is such a blast to take out and really open 'er up :thumb:

Hey I'm jumping on the band wagon...

I finaly got my 89' running good enough to go out on Ortega Hwy here in California.  What a blast.  Fresh BT45's front and rear, Progressive spings in the forks, Cobra F1s.  I'm waiting for jets to install the K&N filter and a Katana 600 rear shock to arrive.  Still need to fix very slight clutch slip, but WOW did it feel good to hit the twisties.

I even had several other riders at the look-out pit stop, comment on how cool the little GS looks and they all had good things to say about the bike in all it's nakedness.  They were genuinly happy to see an older sport bike back on the road.  Of course, if it has two wheels and motors under it's own power, it's cool!
