Title: Fuel leaking bad from carbs
Post by: yiop on December 29, 2006, 08:34:33 AM
I bought this bike about a month ago and it would leak gas bad from the carbs (It had sat awhile while being sold) After i rode it a couple a time it would stop leaking gas. The leak is coming from the sides of the carbs and drips when idle but if you rev it, it speeds up quick. I just got done repainting everything on the bike and coating the tank with por-15, so the bike has been sitting for almost 3 weeks. I started it up last night and it began leaking again. What kind of problem could this be? I searched for the answer but it seems most people have a problem all the time but mine is only after it has sat then goes away. It does leak from both carbs, about a 1-2 drips a second during idle then 3 a second when i rev it up

Where on the carbs is the leak coming from? Mine had a leaky float bowl gasket back in the day (a week ago). If it's the float bowl gasket, try tightening the bolts a little. If that doesn't help, replace the gasket.

Make sure the carbs are seated in the rubber boots.
