Title: valve collets removale problem
Post by: ohad on July 13, 2003, 07:02:07 AM
hey
in some kind of a problem while removing the valves of my top engine:
one valve's collets don't seem to mind the preasure of the valve spring compressor , they don't move even while the valve is fully open (the valve springs are fully compressed with the valve spring compressor...)

any ideas how to remove the collets and by that remove the valve?

thanks ,
Ohad

usually get a magnetic screwdriver to pop them off the valve and fish them out of the head, or dab some grease on the end of it so they stick to the grease.

my problem is that the last valve (the others I removed) isn't as easy - I can remove the collets using the valve spring compressor , and therfor can't remove the collets > can't remove the valve.

Does your valve spring compressor have a hole on the side so when you compress the spring you can see the valve stem thru the side? If so you should be able to grab the collet that way and the the spring will come off and the valve can come out.
