:thumb: I have had my 1998 gs500 for 3 months now and feel comfortable enough to start adding performance parts to it now. i just recieved my ignition advancer. any recommendations on what I should add next on a limited buget?
I live in arizona and I have yet to see any other gs500 riders is anyone here from arizona/mesa area?
I also have a seal leak in the front left fork, how much does that usually cost to fix?
Buying 2 new oil seals and 2 new dust seals will cost you about $49 from most local shops. I replaced the parts my self and it wasn't hard except driving the new oil seals in. Look at my previous post for the details on what to use to drive the seal.
It's not too difficult to do yourself, but if you have doubts about doing it your self, let me know. I am in north Phoenix and would be happy to lend a hand.
Mes_423, where did you get your ignition advancer?

prolly same place I got mine! Bob Broussard (thanks Bob!).
Mes_423: upgrade your fork springs to progressive (or RaceTech)-see my site for easy install and where to buy-best $60 you'll spend on upgrading the GS. THEN, upgrade your rear shock to a Katana shock. THEN, upgrade your tires (if you haven't already).

Pablo, I can dream can't I??? I was just wondering if V&H suddenly got thier sh1t together. I have a couple going to and coming from Bob as we speak. BOB is my hero. :thumb:
I second Pablo's spring suggestion. It is probably the best mod I've done so far. Well worth it.
Paul
why is the spring mod such a good one???
don't take my question as a disrespectful one, rather an ignorant one
why is that mod the best?
does it help with accl or somthing?
or just overall performance?
im guessing it reduces front dive when braking and help handling and maybe even ride comfort.....i cant say for sure tho...im just making a guess b/c they ARE springs that go into the fork.....
what is bob's?
is it a website?
or a catologe?
or a place?

Okay, one at a time.
Vance & Hines ignition advancers are permanently back ordered...V&H don't make them AT ALL anymore. They are not available.
"Bob" is gstwin member (and racer) Bob Broussard who lives in Salinas CA and MAKES the ignition advancer from stock ones...
for free. Look his profile up in the memberlist at top of this page to PM or email him for info on this. You have to give him your stock one in exchange (so he can make another for the next person).
The fork springs help handling (ever notice a pogo effect when hard cornering?), also helps prevent brake dive for better braking and traction.
