What's up everyone?
I am fairly new to riding, i just completed the MSF course, on a 1986 VFR250 :)
So now I am eyeing a 2004 GS500F (yellow) with ~4400 miles on it at a dealer as a first bike. They were asking $3800 but were pretty quick to drop to $3000. I noticed it had a minor scuff on the left crank case and the handle bar end cover on that side was slightly bent (or rather the screw inside was), but barely scratched. So looks like it was dropped in the garage or at a stoplight. They said they'd fix the bent cover.
Other than the slight damage, it looks and feels solid. What do you guys think?
Sounds like a good deal to me!
*EDIT* Oh yeah, and welcome! Congrats on passing the MSF, congrats on picking the GS as a first bike... MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL YOUR GEAR!
Wait you said thats at a DEALER right? You sure its not some guy with lots of bikes and a business license? Because yes thats a hell of a deal from a stealer.

Yeah a dealer. In fact, its a Kawasaki store :)
I'd do her.
Yeah, almost sounds a little to good to be true, but it is the right time of the year and the Kawi dealer many not want to keep it around.
Keep looking around for other damage on it. If you can, take someone with motorcycle knowledge with you to look it over. Whether or not you find anything else, it doesn't hurt to see if you can get it even lower or get some gear thrown into the deal. :thumb:
Sounds good to me and welcome. I got an 06 GSF as my first bike and I love it.
Deff sounds like a deal :thumb:
+1 on trying for some free gear.. atleast a helmet
I got the same year, same color bike with near identical mileage a year and half ago for $2700. This was with minor scuffs and plastic damage, small tank dents, etc. I feel like I got a good deal.
Theres not a lot of used GS's for sale in my area... apparently very few actually so if I was in your shoes and wanted that bike I'd probably take it. 2800-3000 is probably the right range.
yep sounds good to me ... +1 on the take someone with you that knows a little about bikes ... if you can get them to start it up and listen to it .. make sure they have done there UMI (used motorcycle inspection) to catch any flaws there might have been ...
I own an 04, yellow, with about 6k miles...pretty scratched up, probably worse than that one (by me and the previous owner and the moving van). Mine has a few mods (handlebars, brakes, suspension) In California, I'd list it for $3500 if I wanted to sell it. So yeah, off the bat that sounds like a decent deal.
And everyone wishes they had the yellow...
Sounds ok, always offer less, the worst they'll do is counter or say no.
+1 take some one with you.
Ask whats been done to the bike? Askem to check the vavles, get em to toss that and a oil change in.
Get a helmet, good jacket, gloves, good shoes, no tennis shoes!
And have a blast!!!
