Title: ignition switch year compatibility?
Post by: Nikolas on January 04, 2007, 11:00:46 PM
The auctions I've seen on ebay seem to indicate that there was a change in 96, but bike bandit lists the same part number for 89 and 97 models.  I'm talking about the key cylinder, I need a full set (why can't people just call a locksmith when they loose their keys, seriously...) and I need to know what bikes I can get them off of.  I have an 89.

Thanks,

Nik

i dont think there has been any real change, you should be able to get them off any year, you may have to change the plug, i have one off a gsx 750 that came with my top yoke when i did the front end, plug was different that was it, it was easy enough to join the wires

Does anyone have a more definitive answer?  From the wiring diagram it looks like they just eliminated the parking circuit.

From my experience, they are all the same. I have a '04 switch on a early 90's harness, I think it is a '94. Also, 89-97 Kat 600/750 switches are the same as the GS.
