Title: Bah, some of the black peeled off my fairing!
Post by: Bulwark on January 05, 2007, 11:28:46 AM
I was using wd40 and a blow dryer to remove those manufacturers stupid stickers that are on the new bikes tanks and fairings.  When I was working on the fairing ones (they are placed on the top of the side piece of the fairing) and some of the black stuff peeled off.

The black stuff is not black plastic but just a think/soft covering on the top of the side fairing to carry the black from the windscreen piece to the side.  What do you think I could use to patch the little holes my finger nails tore in it?

Thx

The heck with it.  here is a pic of the spot, hehe.  Its the top right white spot.  The large bit on the bottom is still sticker that is stubborn.

You should put one of those I support my local police 2007 stickers they give you when you donate right over that spot.

You realize you just opened up another can of worms on why the bike should be naked...

Hahaha, naked,,my girl is a lady, not a whore and so she must be dressed accordingly.

I do actually like the naked look too but the fairing is much sportier to look at. :icon_mrgreen:

I guess it's too late now but you probably didn't heat it up enough. I tried just picking at the stickers at first without heating it up but it just fell apart. After I heated it up with the hair dryer, they came off in one big piece pretty easily. Maybe you could use some touch up paint to hide the white spot or take off all the black stuff? You can also try a sharpie marker...those commercials say you can hide any scratch if you have the right color.
