I took the course last summer and had such a blast that I'm going to make it a yearly thing.
The ERC is pretty easy to get into, since you need a bike. It wouldn't be too tough to coordinate registering for the same class.
I would love to get a group together and do it sometime in May or June.
Anyone interested?
I might be interested if its the first or second weekend in May. Is the course only a one day thing? I think they do two up riding in the ERC right?
Central PA? how central? I am in Johnstown, PA and I am interested :thumb:
The course I'm interested in is given in State College, right across the street from my neighborhood. I'd be game for signing up with whoever wants to come out. It lasts about 4 hours if memory serves correctly. The registration info won't be up for a while, but I'll be keeping an eye on it and be sure to post as soon as i see it is active.
The ERC allows two up riding, but it isn't a required part of the course.
It is essentally the basic course with four important differences:
1. you get to use your own bike
2. no written test
3. they skip the 'feathering the clutch' type drills and get right to the good stuff
4. at the end you get to run a short kidney-bean-shaped course which is a BLAST.
The guy who usually runs the advanced course in State College is Paul. He's a riot; lots of fun and very knowledgeable. I'm not sure if he would be the instructor, but the course is a blast no matter what.
I might be up for it too. I thought the beginner class was great so I'm sure I'd love the ERC too.
Honestly, you might get more for your buck going to a trackday.
I too took the ERC, and yes, it's VERY similar to the BRC. But that's also a downside. Going over the basics is a great thing, but you also are practicing the basics (except for the sudden stopping) at a track day.
PLUS, you probably would have more fun at it. I have yet to get to a track day, but I'm planning on it in 2008 with the R6.

I think the ERC is next to free here in PA. The BRC was only like $10.
Hard to beat that. :thumb:

+1 I am pretty sure it is free... or like $10.
Also.. There are very few tracks near me or even in most of PA I think.
OK, kids....
Looks like the schedule for the year has been posted to www.pamsp.com .
I'm thinking about the Puddintown Rd location (which actually isn't at LifeLink, but down the road... go figure). To get this location's schedule, search the 16801 zip code.
I'm thinking about the May 5th or June 10th courses, which start registration in a month or two. Any preferences?
Hi all,
The beginning rider and ERC courses are all free to PA licensed riders here in PA.
I take the ERC every year here in Lancaster -- it's great practice. I've been riding for 32 years this April.
If anyone wants to sign up together here in Lancaster and go together, I'd be up for that. I usually take the class at the Lancaster County Emergency Training Center off Route 283 at Salunga.
Let me know!
Yours,
Todd

I'm interested in the May 5th course. I'll be getting hitched May 19th, so I cant commit 100% until the date gets closer. Looks like registration starts on March 31st, so I'll try to get a def answer by then.
I could do the Puddintown Rd location (~ 1 hour from billtown), but they also do one in Woodward, PA.
I'm pretty sure I will be signing up for the May 5th course.

I'm out. My dad said he wants to learn how to ride so I told him I'd take the BRC with him and I think we're doing it in May as well.
Have fun!
Looks like I will be out of town the weekend of May 5th, so I wont be able to do the ERC then. Let me know what u guys thought of it... I might do it later in the season.
I'm going to have too much on my plate in may as well. I haven't ruled out the June course yet though.
Hey gang... just wanted to let you know that I plan on registering for the June ERC in State College.
Registration opens May13th. I hope to see a few familiar people there!
I just registered for the June 10th course in State College PA.
course number is 261502
Come on people, sign up! I will even spring for some burgers at my place afterward.
I will be there on Sunday. sorry nobody here was interested. I did get one riding pal from a few years ago to sign up, so that should be cool.
I ride an 04 SV650S,
my pal rides an 02 SV650S,
last year's instructor rides an 02 SV650S.
how freakin' cool would that be if the same instructor shows up? :)
I definitely would've been in but the wife will be popping out the kids anytime now....literally.
Have fun!
