Title: Found a possible winter project bike..
Post by: 97gs500e on January 10, 2007, 01:09:10 AM
I want you guys' advice, lemme know what you think.  The idea is that this bike can be turned into a stunt bike, please no flaming.  The stunting would be on private streets/property.  It doesn't run, it's an old track bike, and there is no title.  It's a 1995 Kawi ZX-6R, and from what I've seen it looks alright for the price, and I'd be splitting the price three ways with two of my roommates.  The seller is asking for $600, so my share is $200.

Here's the link on eBay:

Is this project bike worth $200?  And is there any way to get a title somehow?

*edit* I added a pic

Getting a title shouldn't be too difficult, probably will have to get an attorney involved, though. Why are you planning on titling the bike if it will only be used off-road, though? The only other worry would be parts availability.  If it costs a couple hundred every time it breaks down, it isn't that great of an investment.  I would PM "Crazy" Dan Jackson, over on KCSB, he is a world famous stunter and may have some decent advice on starting stunting. Good luck!  :thumb:

I wouldnt split the cost of a bike with other people  :nono: Could only lead to bad things. No matter who you think your friends are, dont get involved in splitting the cost of things that can be broken, stollen or ???

I am speaking from experience. If you cant buy it all your self then dont do it  :thumb:

*edit*

Asside from that.. I do think it looks like a cool project and for $600  :dunno_white: Why not

If you get your hands on the title, you might be able to get that running for cheap and then flip it to other would be stunters/Fuel parking lot crashers.

looks like a cool beater bike... I'd take that hideous tail off it though.

& +1000000 to not splitting the cost w/ friends. I had a good friend/roommate try to imbezzle my bike when I moved from NM to MA.
long story...

save yourself a HUGE headache & pay for it yourself.

To get a title, I would start reading here (http://www.ksrevenue.org/faqs-dmvtandr.htm).

It is called a quiet title, I am not sure if you will have to apply in Missouri or Kansas. Oh, and you will probably have to pay some fees and possibly back taxes. Make sure you check on this as well, from the language in the ad, it may have never been registered.

unfortunately this isn't a good time anymore.  I need to focus on my primary bike, or new one:
