Just went and topped off. Got home and thought I smelled gas. Looked down and there was gas leaking off of the swingarm. Little hose under the emissions box was spilling fuel. It was seeping out around the gas cap too. I can't trace the hose all the way up w/o removing the fuel tank, but it runs over the airbox, down and around the battery, and dumps out around the rear shock. Should it be hooked up? Did I over fill the tank? Never had this happen before.
BTW- if I open the gas cap, it stops running out of the hose. Fuel was up to the top, now down the "neck" a little.
Thanks
Don
Over filled ... maybe ...
Cool.
Srinath.
I agree with srinath.
There is an overfill hose that runs from the bottom of the tank. it is fed from the gas cap overfill. if the bike is overfilled or laid down you will see fuel from this hose.
If this is right, don't worry about it. It should have stopped by now.
If not you will have to remove the tank, and be sure.
Be careful. And with fuell.....Be sure. :thumb:
The tank is overfilled if the fuel is at the top of the filler neck, or rather, the tank is completely full.
It doesn't drain anymore when you open the filler cap, because the filler cap is no longer displacing fuel such that the level is above the drain.
Sometimes fuel expands when it gets hot, this could be due to sun or a hot engine heating up the tank...
Thanks for the quick replies all of you guys. That was what I thinking, but gas leaks tend to make me unsure. It has stopped now (as soon as it got down to the bottom of the filler neck).
Just freaked me out a little.
Thanks again
