Just in case you have not heard the legend, here it is...
Have you noticed that some riders have a small bell hanging off their motorcycle frame or handlebars? Have you wondered what the purpose is? Well, you have come to the right place. That little bell is more than decoration, it serves a very important purpose – it wards off gremlins, also known as evil road spirits.
You see, there are motorcycle gremlins that LOVE to ride, but they are also mischievous little devils and they cause all sorts of problems for you while you are riding. Some say they are responsible for that old lady in the minivan not seeing you and cutting you off in traffic. Or, you may be having trouble shifting smoothly, your battery goes dead, your turn signal suddenly refuses to work, an oil spill appears out of nowhere, you hit a patch of black ice, etc – you get the idea. Those little gremlins look for trouble and try to steer your bike towards it.
Now, once you get a bell on your scoot – it wards off these attacks from the little gremlins, not allowing any more to get onto your bike. If you already have some gremlins riding with you, they will get trapped in the hollow of the bell, and the constant ringing will drive them insane – causing them to lose their grip and fall to the roadway.
Do you have the protection of a gremlin bell? If you buy a gremlin bell of your own, the power works. If you receive the gremlin bell as a gift – the powerful magic of the bell is doubled. Do you have a friend who does not have a gremlin bell yet? Why not be the person to give them one, they'll thank you! The bell, and a good preventive maintenance program by the bike's owner, will help eliminate the gremlins.
My parents gave one to me for my bike and as soon as I get it on the road, the bell will be there too. I'm not supersticious by nature, but if it helps, I'll use it! How do you guys feel about it? (I'm sure this will get some very different views...)

It also serves another very important purpose ... It tells the world That you're a redneck. Imagine the problems that will disappear with that little broadcast ... or the new redneck ones that might appear ...
Cool.
Srinath.
seen em around. I never bought one cause I hate to be a sucker for a good sales pitch. (inside sales 2yrs)
If someone bought one for me I would put in on my bike though. I am superstitious to the point that I won't knock it. I shy away but I won't knock it.
you should have got bike nuts, the bell is a little danty
I've seen an old NAM vet who is wheelchair bound. He rides a harley trike with HUGE gonads hanging in the rear.
Funny.
my husband gave me a bell as a gift when I got my bike.
I think it would be more of a sub-conscious mind set. But sounds interesting, kinda like having a mascot. If I see a small bell ill give it a try. :)
wouldn't hurt if you, or anybody else, did.
I keep a small 1inch wooden cross attached to the key holder on my jacket.
Yes I agree that all this stuff is all subconscious , but I think whatever good luck you can have or carry with you when you ride, is all good.
superstition is the antique version of mind-control. it's all in your subconscious.
The bell is great and all...but I carry a 38 Special. F*&K road gobblins! :icon_twisted:

YES thats what im talking about. although mine is a .32 bernadelli or a springfield xd 9. easy to pull out too hen I carry it in my right jacket pocket. you can actually strap the 32 to the outside of the leg too.
I have a bell but its not somthing I put on the bike I just have heard it ever since Ive owned the bike... while riding you hear a slight ding ding ding and its annoying haha but I just got used to it. I have no idea what it is.
Well, first off sirnath, I hate to break the news to ya man, but I am glad to say that I am NOT a redneck. Bells, tallismans, little wooden crosses, it's all the same thing to me. I kinda agree with blu and jackie on the fact that it's all in the mind. It's just a little subconsious reminder to be careful and watch what you are doing. I thought this would make a good topic for discussion either way. As far as Nex is concerned, I carry a .45 Ruger KP90....

I had the bell on my key when I was hit from behind twice by the same car. Rode away in the ambulance to the ER without a scratch :dunno_white: :dunno_white: :dunno_white:

Talking about that, did you know that there is one company that sell jacket that sew a saint Christopher medal into their jackets.. I saw one in mine when I bought it, I am not of Christian beliefs, but I though it was appropriate for some reason. (btw it was an icon tarmac jacket)
