It's not my GS, it's a friend's dirtbike, but I still got to do some riding, even though it was 5 degrees! JOY!!!!!!!!! What a blast.

It was a blast, hopefully we'll do it again this weekend (weather allowing). There's a sort of fender thing over the front tire. I'm not sure why he has that there. I don't really know too much about dirtbikes. Don't know a whole lot about bikes! I just got my MSF last August... after years of being a passenger. Now I can ride and own a GS 500 and am thinking about getting my own dirtbike. Kind of addictive.
yeah its additive alright... I've been riding offroad with my converted dirt bike a lot lately, no ice of course
My bro-in-law has a TTR looks just like that one.

Not really yet! I live in Minnesota now but lived most of my life in Texas, ice is still a mystery to me! Hopefully soon I'll be more like my friend, Don:

I noticed there's not a disc on the front. Is that specially for ice, cause it's not good to use the front brake or something?

The front brake is totally taken off for the ice, yeah, which was hard for me to get used to. I need LOTS more ice time. :icon_lol:
are those regular tires? how do you stay up when leaning?
Seems the fender is to avoid catching body parts in the event of a mix-up and feeding them into the forks?

They are studded, they are actually pretty cool looking up close. Here's a pic from the Internet, the pics I have don't show the studs:
