i just finished looking at a british gs 500 site that has directions on how to modify and install a 99-05 GSXR shock on a GS 500. minor mods really, raises rear 1-2 cm , and you have lots of adjustments to experiment with.
i have a chance to get a 02 gsxr 600 shock in good shape for quite cheap. I'm going to compare shock length, stroke, and mounting bolts with my removed stock shock before (maybe) taking the plunge and swapping.
I'm mechanically adept and not easily discouraged. :cookoo:
Anyone out there have intelligent info they would like to share?
No, but I wish you'd share the link to the british site... DO IT NOW!
Sorry... outburst.
Here is your link...

(edit) Well, that is the link anyway, but the site doesn't seem to work right now for me. Maybe they are having problems or my inet sucks.
I have a 02 Gix600 and a 04Gix600 on my bikes. Had to use a GSXR lower linkage, they are shorter. I made a new upper upper mount to accept the longer shock. The air box has to be removed and I use a lunchbox filter. I can post pics with more info later tonight if needed.
I posted a list of shock lengths and spring rates which may be helpful.
