I finally got an airbrush. Its the Testors Aztek A470. I plan on painting my helment and doing detail work on my bike. Anybody got any cool design Ideas.

Sweet man you can make some killer designs with those. I assume you already have experience with airbrushing since you want to paint your helmet. Wish I could get a blank white or black helmet and do something with it. :thumb: I'm sure you already know but get paints that won't hurt the hard shell of your helmet :)
You can probably buy one of the helmet shark fins and incorporate a cool design with that. I'm all about scary helmet and tank paint but not really stuff the local satanists will steal and try to sacrifice :? :lol:. You can turn it into a wolf head with the teeth biting down on the face shield. You can probably get it to look pretty burly.

Yes I have had some previous experience in school with an airbrush, although what I will be trying to do will be much harder than anything Ive done in school. That is a great idea 70 cam guy about the shark fin I might have to do that. Ill be sure to post pics when Im done, but that will be awhile from now.

Okay airbrush gods and goddesses, here's a Q:
Can a key scratch (on a gas tank or on the side of a car) be airbrushed into oblivion? I don't want to repaint my entire car, but I bought it with a nasty scratch. Is this the type of thing I could get done with an airbrush? Other than sweet graphics and "body painting" (j/k) I'm not sure what uses they have.

I don't know about airbrushing, but you can try using some rubbing compound and touch-up paint.
Lightly dip a chamois in some rubbing compound and uh.. rub into the scratch. Apply touch up paint and let it dry a bit. Repeat again or 'sand' out any roughness from the dried paint.
Obviously this won't make it look perfect, but then again, you bought it with a hugh gash to begin with, right? ;)

Yea... thing is - some of those rubbing compounds are really abrasive/corrosive and eat up the paint. Be gentle and don't apply it in gobs at once in the same place. Nice smooth circular motions... wax on, wax off like ;)

This kit looks great - I saw it selling online. Question for you, as I would like to get into airbrushing but don't know much about the hobby...
What's needed to get started? Would this kit be enough or would I have to buy something else to work with this? Does the kit come with an air compressor of some sort? If I were to start from scratch, what would I need to paint something?

You would need to get a compressor. There are air brush compressors, but you can get any compressor as long as you have a regulator to restrict the amount of air going to the air brush. If you were tight on money they make compressed air cans that you can buy for like $10 but they do not last long, the money you spend on them will soon add up. After you have the airbrush, copressor and regulater, you will need the paint and then some airbrush cleaner and your ready to go. If you do get one be sure to keep it clean and it will work much better.

Wow I got hosed. I paid $145 for my air brush and airbrush.com had and add for the same one for $89. :o :x ;) :?

They usually go for about $130 and that is about as cheap as they get.
It works fine for regular airbrushing but I doubt it would have the PSI to be used with the larger auto spraying guns.
Also it does not have an on/off switch. You either have to pull the plug or hook it into a surge protecter with a switch.
It also vibrates so much it will walk around if you dont put something like a towel under it.

I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever decide to get a kit and try it out. But 1st I am saving for a digital SLR camera. OOoooohhhhh they are nice! ;)
