Title: clutch switch
Post by: ledfingers on January 20, 2007, 03:15:57 AM
ok, so i forgot to label everything when i pulled the front end apart. All i have left is the two yellow/green wires shown here http://www.gs500e.co.uk/wire.jpg
(http://www.gs500e.co.uk/wire.jpg) as clutch switch. they come from the clutch lever, so i figure thats what they are. But i can't find where they match up... (don't berate me, i know i'm retarded). is it possible they match up to other colors? TIA

basically it is a connections that flows from the main harness (big yellow plug connector) to the clutch switch (the switch is on when the clutch is pulled in) back out of the switch to the starter.  They way I look at it is this.

Start from the right hand grip, find the yellow and green wire.  Plug it into one of the yellow and green wires coming from the clutch handle switch.  Now, find the yellow and green wire that should be bundled with the big yellow plug connector.  Plug it into the other yellow and green wire coming from the clutch switch.  You are all done.

right hand grip (YG) ------------connect to YG from Clutch switch--------- other YG from Clutch Switch--------connect to YG next to big yellow plug (this runs to the main harness back to all the rearward electronics.

Its a horrible diagram, but I hope it clears it up a little.

ok, so, new rule for me. No working on motorcycles, no matter how simple the task, unless completely sober... well, we'll add no more posting about working on motorcycles to that as well. I woke up today, walked out to my garage, looked at it and a second later figured it out. I'd never RIDE on any sort of substance, but i thought i generally function pretty well, all things considered. I guess i just can't function at all...
