I am posting from my laptop on vista, i hate it
uhh .. duh ..........you have to wait a few months tell they start getting the bugs out of it ! like when a new car comes out .. you never buy it the first year its out .. theres to many bugs there gonna find :)
Yeah I have it on CD's next to me, but what sux is that I dont have a video card with 256mb so I can use the Aero. I will have to wait to install it when I get a new video card
ehh i would never put it on my personal computer. This is my work laptop and it makes my boss happy and me unhappy. So far it isn't so bad, i am just ticked that probably half the crap that i had installed won't work cause its Vista, even though Micro$oft says it is backwards compatible with XP
So far annoying do you want to run this messages - disabled; firewall - disabled;
I am sure that there are going to be more disabling of crap

LH = LongHorn = Microsoft pre-release codename for "Vista".
Notice the stamp at the bottom of the page.
'nuff said.
Vista == Hog with a pretty bow tie and makeup on...
The UAC totally sucks... The way Mac did "Explicit Consent" is much better... And they did it like 5 years ago... :dunno_white:
Oh well... I still like 2K better than XP.
f%$k, i can't run games cause the OS won't let the files install themselves. DAMNIT, HOW AM I GOING TO PLAY FF7   :flipoff:
evil +  I will make it work
From what I'm hearing about some of Vista's features (sending usage statistics whether you like it or not, etc) I will refuse to install it. And when Microsoft dumps XP like they say they will in a year or so...I'll switch to Mac

I hope you don't like games. :flipoff:
In the last year I've crashed more Mac software than PC software... Funny huh?
Maybe it's 'cause I'm using iLife stuff (Garage Band, iMovie, iDVD)... :dunno_white:

i agree, i enjoy a good game and there just aren't any for mac. Now windows installed on one of the new intel macs runs like a champ cause mac knows what they are doing when it comes to hardware. but unless more people start to actually use macs i don't think that game companies are going to thier games to mac. Oh and I have crashed more than enough other applications on both my panther mac and my tiger mac.
Isn't the split between mac and pc users like 50-50?
I know a guy who has one of the new mac pro desktops. You can get a really really really fast system for about $16k . Seriously though; you can get a really fast system for a couple grand, and then run a windows emulation on it. He can run 8 simultaneous emulations of XP; each running HL2 and rendering a 20k x 20k pixel image in photoshop. Is pretty nuts what they are capable of.
i work with those macs. With one instance of xp running i can tell a huge performance decrease in both OS X and XP. Also the new intel macs, like this, doesn't have to emulate windows, that is why they rock. For true performance you have to boot into one or the other, Parrallels or other softwares that run XP in a virtual machine suck, just use bootcamp
PS: the dual dual core xeon mac pros are the shaZam! :thumb:
..since we're on the topic of OS's, here's an interesting read by Eric S. Raymond..

vista has this readyspeed option thingy where you can take a thumb drive and add it as memory. i work at best buy we have been playing around with the machines that are going out on the 30th and like 5 out of the 18 we got have crashed. its got some cool stuff in it I run it at home, but i do have a mac also.
Nepix
Sure Apple knows what they are doing when it comes to hardware....and they know it......so they are going to surly make you pay greatly for it :icon_rolleyes:

Something I didn't realize when VW came out with the "new bug"..... I was one of those people that waited seven months for one and it turned out to be an overpriced fancy looking crapbox. I should have waited for the 99 civic but the wife (ex now) had to have it... And still does... It's a nice driveway ornament at her house... lol!
lol see :) i use to work at Automax ford ..... i know these things . you talk to the techs . ( was a poter /lube tech) and i learn a good bit there !
