Howdy guys.
I'm looking to make the GS500 just a little better sounding. I'm not too fussed about more power, and I don't want to spend much money. Is it possible to put the stock muffler from a CBR600 (or ninja etc) onto the GS500, and will it improve the sound at all? Are there any side effects?
I don't really know much about bikes (this is my first one ;)), so I'm sorry if it's a silly question.
Thanks.
Oh, and sorry if it's been answered, but I did search first!
Cut the thing off its head pipe, weld it on ... yea. May need a adapter or some reduction type thing.
Cool.
Srinath.
I've got a cbr1000 can on mine. I had to make a custom midpipe and mounting brackets.

Thanks guys.
And will I have to rejet? (that's changing the size of the nozzles in the carburettor right?) sorry for the noobness!
Here's an FAQ link to info on rejetting (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=13148.0) and s'more from the wiki (http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Upgrades/Rejetting) and s'more (http://www.angelfire.com/mt2/mikesgs500/rejetting/) from another site, and then there's pablo's (http://pantablo500.tripod.com/id7.html) site and s'more (http://pantablo500.tripod.com/id23.html) on pablo's site. :icon_mrgreen:
I'm Ms. n00bness, so no need to apologize! Keep asking questions! :thumb:
No..in addition to the flange I had to make mounting brackets that attach to the subframe because the can is a higher mount than stock and larger in size, it seemed unbalanced just using the stock mount.
Ok,
Thanks again everyone for the tips. And thanks Pandy for tracking down all those links!
My pleasure! Maybe you could put a new can on my SV650S when you're finished with yours? :icon_lol: :icon_mrgreen:
Yea, here is a tip if your working on the SV, dont sneeze any where near it, it will fragment and fall apart ... :o
Cool.
