The Republic Day of India (Gantantra Divas)is a national holiday of India to mark the transition of India from a British Dominion to a republic on January 26,1950. This is not to be confused with the Independence Day (India)on August 15th.

The 26th of January was initially India's "Independence Day", one of Mahatma Gandhi's many symbolic acts during India's Freedom Struggle against the British colonial rule, and the adoption of the Constitution on this date was felt able to strengthen its initial meaning, one calling for Indians of all ages to declare their freedom from the British Raj.

We started it like 20 years ago as a joke. It somehow spread and has gotten legitimacy. Literally I heard one of my senior school mates use it and I copied it and ... it just seemed to spread like wild fire ... sorta like some of the words President W makes up ... that sound like they are legit and pretty much convey the meaning ... like "Stratigery".
Ergo ... wish an Injun that, and if he acts like its all common, call him a liar ... that's how we celebrate it ... yea ... :thumb: The right reaction is ... "huh ... WTF ..."

To mark the importance of this occasion, every year a grand parade is held in the capital, New Delhi. The different regiments of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force march past in all their finery and official decorations. The President of India who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, takes the salute.
Celebrations, though on a much smaller scale, are also held in state capitals, where the governor of the state unfurls the national flag. If the Governer of the state is unwell, or is unavailable for some reason, the Chief Minister of the state assumes the honor of unfurling the National Flag of India.

OK this was a blonde joke but ok fine lets make it a texan joke ...
A texan walks iinto an ice cream parlor and says, I'll ahve the chocolate. The ice cream guy looks in the freezer and says, I'm sorry sir, we dont have chocolate, would you like somehting else. The texan says, OK then I'll have the chocolate ... OK that goes on for 10 times ...
Then the manager walks in hearing the noise. He says, can you spell Van as in Vanilla. The texan goes V-A-N. He says OK, can you spell Straw as in strawberry. The texan says S-T-R-A-W. Then manager says, can you spell f%$k as in chocolate. The texan says "there aint no f%$k in chocolate" !!!
