Title: My first long trip
Post by: Jeremichi on July 14, 2003, 06:53:13 PM
Well I finally went on a long trip on my gs.  From Ann Arbor, MI to Sturgeon Bay, WI.  About 500 miles.  And boy did my ass hurt!  Chicago traffic sucks.  The rest of the way was pretty smooth.  For some reason my bike stalled around Kalamazoo.  It was like it ran out of gas.  But I just had filled up 30 miles before that so I messed with the valve and it started in the prime position.  Moved it back to regular position and it was fine the rest of the way.  I'm definitely going to buy a new seat that seat sucks.

You won't need a new seat.  You should have some big calluses now.

No need for Kevlar pants :thumb:

What?  You didn't go the extra 40(?) miles to Gills Rock?  Awww, you missed out on the drunken highway weave....  Maybe another time.

About the seat.  I have a Suzuki gel seat, but I only use it when my wife is riding on the back.  It's better for her, but worse for me.  I dunno - the padding is just a little "much" where it counts.  Besides, when I'm packing camping gear I prefer the flatter seat as a place to bungee my sleeping bag and self-inflating mattress.  Just my experience....

Kerry, you made me remember something I saw a few days ago.  It was and older Honda pullling a rather large trailer with a mower, edger, trash can, rake, weed eater, etc...  I guess he was a lawn guy, but man did it look funny.

Wish I could have gotten a picture.

Jeremichi, it seems the fuel delivery system on the GS is CR@P!  I'm getting rid of the stock setup ASAP!
