It's only another month or so before I break the GS out of hibernation, and I need a new helmet. I currently have an HJC CS-12 - it's a great helmet, when I'm wearing contacts ...
However, any time I wear my glasses, they pinch into my face .... and it's pretty F#$%ing annoying. Are there any glasses-friendly helmets out there that maybe aren't $600 SHOIES / ARAIs?

Possibly a KBC, my dad bought one and I have worn it and it seems to have a little bit more rounded shape to it.
My old Z1R strike helmet used to be quite comfy with my glasses..my new scorpion..not so much...although...I wouldn't go back to the Z1R if you paid me..I just wear my contacts and a tinted shield...
my wife and i both have fulmers and those work fine. ive also never had a problem with vegas. the vegas were like 100 and the fulmers were 80 tops
My scorpion exo400 and my glasses got along just fine. I now have contacts though, and they're eleventy bajillion times better.
If possible, go down to the shop and try things on with your glasses... everyone's unique, and it depends on your head shape, your glasses, and helmet... I've never had problems with HJC CL-14, CL-SP or Shark S500. :dunno_white: I ride with contact lens but I did use to wear sun glasses before I got my smoked visor. :icon_mrgreen:
The Z1R ZRP1 works fine with my glasses
My HJC CL-14 has been fine with my sunglasses, though they probably fit a bit tighter to my head than normal glasses do. I guess I should remember to bring my glasses when I try on some new helmets...

That's the thing, the closest decent apparel shop is at least 300km away. All the local stores (Ie: Canadian tire) stock stuff that is made by companies I have never heard of.
There doesn't seem to be any specific make to cater, so looks like my best bet may just be to wait until I can get up to Halifax to try some on.
Hmm... Or, I can start a helmet review website for riders with glasses (helmetsfordudeswithglasses.org) and get companies to ship me (free) helmets to test? :)
Thanks all.
Cheers,
J
+ 1 on the Fulmers.. If you are up in canada I think that is what the RMPs wear.
I have a Modular fulmer.. They are AWESOME for glasses. The modular feature is key to getting your glasses off and on, adjusting them @ stop lights etc...
try em :icon_mrgreen:
Shoei RF-1000 works for me. Heck even my dirt helmet and goggles accommodate my glasses. But the Shoeis might be out of your price range...
When I got my helmet (I think it is a KBC but not sure) I had to try on about 30 different helmets at two different stores before I found on the fit well. I have to put the helmet on then open the visor then put on my glasses. I was looking at a Fulimer modular the other day. It fit very well and I liked the flip up front design. I just wanted yellow or red, not white. I still might get it though. I just got paid WAHOO!!
Now someone explain to me why a guy who has been riding a total of 3 weeks, with 60 miles under his belt needs TWO helmets??

Easy, he's got two heads.
You guys that ride with contacts .... do they ever slide out on you or anything? mine do and its really annoying.
Matty, make an app with your eye doctor, most will give you some different types to try. Some will work, some won't. I've got contacts and have no problems. Sounds like yours don't fit.
possibly but its only when im riding .. and my visor is down .. must be the way i move my eyes when i ride or something.
Dude, I ride with my acuvue oasys contacts in all the time (or used to) and have never had a problem. Even at low speeds, with the visor up, my eyes don't dry out, and they don't slide around... I'd ask to have your eyes reexamined.. sounds like they gave you the wrong shape, or something..
the best way to solve all of that is LASIK EYE SURGERY. if you can get it .. DO IT! i just had mine done a little over a month though. it is so amazing and now I have 20/15 vision in both eyes. life is so much better without contacts and glasses. b4 the surgery I had 20/200
with military discount it cost me $2300 dollars and will pay for itself in a few years. free eye appointments for life , free enhancements for life. ect. ect. its the lifetime lasik plus.
anyways I know not everyone can get it due to certain reasons but if anyone was thinking about it I would say go for it its worth every penny.
I've thought about the lasik.....what was your recovery time?
susuki jah,
i've been thinking about it actually... Just the procedure that seems a bit discomforting ... And don't you have to have it done every 5 or so years?
its a lifetime thing. if it happens that your vision starts to deminish again they will redo the surgery for free but the likely hood of my vision going back again is very slim.
Ive never seen this good in my life! it changes everything . the recovery time is like a day. i went back to work the next day. also you can see right after the surgery and it only took 8 mins for both eyes. its super easy. a little wierd but doesnt hurt. after a day you dont feel wierd anymore you are back to normal. i was seeing 20/15 by the next day.
they also offer 12 months no interest to pay it off if you dont want to pay interest. but they offer longer plans too. i hated wearing glasses while riding or working because they always had to be perscription and I spent so much money on contacts and glasses. I got fed up!

I wear glasses and I find my HJC CL-Max fits fine. It is a little tight in the rear of the lower jaw, but that's probably because I have a wide head. I wear a M shirt and/or pants and an XL helmet. Go figure.
I just got some new glasses which are a tad wider than my others. I haven't had a chance to go riding with these since my street has had snow on it since the first blizzard on Dec 18. I'm so stir crazy that I'm tempted to go out and ride anyway.
I like my body parts enough, though, that I'm gonna wait until the snow melts totally. Colorado usually loses its snow within a week or so. this year is different.
i swear I died and went to Buffalo. :icon_confused:
I just picked up my Matte Black HJC AC-12, it fits so much better than my CS-12. Reviews say it's a bit on the noisy side, I wear earplugs 90% of the time anyway. Glasses fit in snugly and easily and don't move around, but they seem to hover over my nose - maybe time will change this.

I hear ya yassensei, roll on summer! :)
Cheers,
I wear a Z1R and like it. I don't wear glasses, but I always ride wearing sunglasses. I find that the styles with a closer fit to the outer edges of my eyebrows fit better inside the helmet.
My HJC helmet (CS-12 I think) used to make the sunglasses push on my nose a bit, but not terribly. The Z1R is better in that respect.
Maybe you should find a style of glasses to fit the helmet you have!
Best Helmet I have had for my glass's was the Nolan Modular helmet. You should definatly check them out if your haveing problems finding a helmet that will work with your glasses.
