Title: Storing Bike IN appartment? Possible? Who does it?
Post by: Budrick320 on February 02, 2007, 04:04:15 PM
Hey guys, I am going to be moving out of the parents house to an appt in about 4-5 months. But I am concerned about the bike and don't feel comfortable leaving it in the parking lot. I don't have full coverage. I don't want to pay extra for storage and I want to hopefully try and store it in the appt itself or maybe on the patio. Does anyone do this? Advice/Tips/Suggestions Welcome.

I own a duplex and store the GS in the other side (winter only) Its a pain to get it in and out. Depending where you rent they may not like the idea of you parking in the apt. Look for an apt that offers a garage or get a storage unit nearby.  :thumb:

Other than that.. My GS fits right in the doorway. I only have to fold in the mirrors  :icon_mrgreen:

I've seen pictures of people with their bikes in their houses for winter...I say why not.  Its a good floor decoration.

We have a walkout basement so I rolled mine down the hill into the basement.  Looks pretty good beside the big tv.

A great way to piss off your apartment manager.

Please take into consideration the smell of the bike. Though you can't feel it in the garage or open space, if you put it in enclosed living room, there might be some smells that other non-motorheads won't like. Thorough cleaning of the bike would help. Especially clean all oil deposits under front sprocket cover, wheels, cover the chain, exhaust hole and air filter hole. Also don't forget to put something under side stand or center stand. Those can scratch the floor.
