Title: Crossover parts?
Post by: Bullit on February 04, 2007, 06:55:41 AM
Just wanting to pick everyone's brains here :cookoo: , I'm working at gearing up my wife's GS500f (05), and I'm having a heck of a time finding many parts at all available to me here in Eastern Canada.  I have manged to get a set of lowering links from a fellow forum member, should recieve them sometime next week.  I still haven't been able to find a source for an economical set of frame sliders/bobbins/tip-over guards, whatever terminology you choose.  There was a set available from the UK, but seemed pretty expensive even before shipping (+ or - $120).  Even hard to find a winshield, Parts Canada and Motovan don't list any aftermarket screens for the GS.  I think I'm going to just order direct to Zero Gravity, Puig doesn't give that option.  I have managed to do a cheap little mod to raise the bars a bit, while lowering the front end a little (about 7-8mm).  If there is interest in this I can post an explanation  of how it played out.  Any other mods that might be helpful to me would be appreciated, mostly concerning tip-over protection and vertically challenged riding assistance.

Thanks in advance,
Paul IBA#26652

PS: My ride is a 2004 Yamaha FJR1300, 145HP worth of asphalt eating fun!

Yeah, ZG is your best bet for aftermarket windscreen. For the sliders, search "frame sliders" and the author as "Wrecent_Wryder", he bought a set that he really enjoys. Be aware, however, that ANY frame slider you buy is going to require that you cut holes in her fairings, for it to poke through.

Good luck with everything, keep us updated, and post pics!
