Key won't turn in the ignition unless I stand there and futz with it hard for a few minutes. Seems like the Simple Green + water bath I gave it must have stripped the tumblers inside, or maybe it's rusting from the rain.
Solution: WD40 or oil? I have both.
WD40, wait to dry, then oil?
WD40 then after it oes to working try some 3 in 1.
Don't use wd-40 on a lock. WD-40 attracts and holds more dirt than having nothing in there. That's one of the many reasons people recommend against using it as a lubricant on chains. WD-40 is not intended to be used as a sole lubricant, it is a water displacing formula (try number 40), hence the name. Use a graphite based lubricant, as they will lubricate without attracting or holding dust. Ask any locksmith, hell, do a search for it here, we've had a locksmith chime in before.
Watch out with the key though, i dunno where you're located, but my gas cap key hole was frozen and my key broke in half and was stuck. I took it to a locksmith and they got it out and lubed it and it feels 10x better than before. They sell specialized lubricants at the locksmith that I'd consider investing in. You could use it in all your locks and I think that it would completely worth it.

The guy before me had a huge ring of keys and the side loaded the lock from the weight
and they wore metal off of the cylinder
I have to push the key forward then turn it.
also if it is gunked....CARB CLEANER and let it run out the bottom to get rid of the gunk
let dry for a few min
then graphite or teflon spray lube
works wonders.... that carb cleaner....also strips paint off of rims
yeap my key is bent too from torquing it. And I have to push it in too before it turns.
My choices are:
"Gunk Super Oil The Premium Household Oil... ideal for lubricating locks"
Tri-Flow Superior Lubricant with Teflon
WD-40, apparently not the best idea
Brak-Kleen ultra-nasty
go to a locksmith or dealer and have a new key made
do not copy your key
have one made to the correct key tumbler depths
you might....probably..... have a bad copy
I used the Tri-flow and it's good now. Not "like butta'", but not frozen either. :P I think the rain has a lot to do with it.
