Title: Uni Air box replacement filter POS
Post by: Piper5177 on July 15, 2003, 12:38:14 PM
Okay been running my bike with the UNI Airbox filter for a while.  I got the pods today for setting up a stage 3 jetting.  I pull the air box and look inside and what do I find?  The metal top of the filter.  I don't know how long it's been off for but it's been a little while.  No wonder it was running so lean.  I have had it 3.5 turns out to compensate.  Imagine if that damn thing flipped up and stuck over one of the carbs while I was flying around a turn or something!  I can't believe it got sucked off of the filter. :x

Unis absolutely suck. :x

I watched a guy crash his Duc 996 once because the cheap-ass Uni filter collapsed and jammed the throttle wide open...

K&N ba-by! :thumb:

How about a loaded gun instead.  I would be quicker.  :P

Naaaah...The GS as you know is bullet proof...However I have to say for a UNI to come apart....Well I have used them for a while and they have been fine. The main thing is never to let a petro based product touch it. Clean it with dish soap and water and oil it with lemon pledge (or pine pledge, or the Vegetable oil based oil forget the brand).
Cool.

This just happened to me!!  I thought I needed a new motor because of all the noise.  I cleaned up the filter really well and sealed the end back on the Uni with blue RTV until I can get a K&N...

Are you looking for the one that drops in to the airbox?

Yes I am. I have figured out a cheapo airbox K&N method however. But a UNI if you have one I'd really appreciate it. Lemme know.
Thanks.
