Title: Aust. Clipons
Post by: s4gs on February 09, 2007, 05:36:06 AM
Can some one here let me know what year GS these are off.
Got them from a wrecker in Queensland and i thought he was sending me the 89 clipons. Ended up with these instead. I've since been told that there are 3 types which are -

89 clipons with the short bar clamps, the same as the US one's
90 - 93 similar to 89 but with a very slight increase in bar clamp lenght.
94 - ? bar clamps with a 50mm rise compared to the 89's.

Can anyone here confirm any of this & does anyone know where i can get the 89 clipons or at least the bar clamps of them?

Your on the money with the bar clamp lengths.

To get a set of '89 bar clamps you'll be lucky. I tried at my local Suzy dealer for a set off an '89 & was told that they would have to come ex Japan. Delivery time would be whenever they arrived & I was looking at about $300.

Probably your best bet would getting a set of Tingate clip-ons. Have a look at these threads.  :thumb:

Did a search a while back & came across both those post's. Thanks anyway.
Would prefer the 89's. Thought about the SM2 bars but at $140 for the bars + $47.55 shipping ( i emailed SM ) your looking at around $240Aust.
I'll keep scouring the wreckers until something turns up.

Dont get to see to many GS's down this way & i cant remember seeing any older one's at all. Wish i'd known about we got 3 different types of clipons before i got stuck with these. shaZam! happens but...
