So I guess this is the "official" meet up thread.
I thought that May 21st would be the best day for us all to get together as most people will have the Monday off for the May 2-4. We need to figure out where we'll meet up, and where we will travel/hang out at.
Chime in if you are interested... :dunno_white:
GSRider/John
getting a jump on the gun early eh ??? lol I will have already put thousands of clicks on the bike by then this season.. :P I'm USUALLY up north offroading the jeep on the rocks on the long weekend.. but might be able to make it.. we'll see in a month or two whats getting planned..
cheers
Mike
I'm usually up north during that weekend also, but we'll talk about it more as it get's closer.
See...there you go. This is the exact reason I posted so early.
If both of you guys are going to be away that weekend, what about another day that is good for everyone?
I am always off Mondays and Sundays.
How's the beginning of May sound?
I know we'll all have put a few clicks on our bikes, but I figure by May, it'll be warm enough to actually go for a ride.
Bueller? Bueller?
oh yaaa if the weather man is correct ( I REALLY HOPE SO).. and i get the last coouple little odd's n ends in .. i'll have the GS500 E-F out this weekend.. The fairing swap went without a hitch.. rear wheen swap is done with a custom fabricated rear caliper arm.. wheels painted and new rear rubber installed.. fron sprocket is in.. handlebars and front springs are in.. new turn signlals in.. jsut waiting on a bracket for the fairings ( could really rise without it but i'll be good) and the windsheild mounting hardware and she'll be good to go. oh.. and i suppose i should go renew the sticker for the plate.. hehe
Hey there, kinda new to all of this but a i've been looking for some riders in this area to go on a tour with. The May 2-4 weekend is no good for me either so if you guys plan on going another weekend (ealier is good for me) then i'm down :thumb:
Cool.
How about May 6th?
It's a Sunday, which works for me, and is about two weeks after my annual NOTL tour with some other riders I see once a year or so.
Ya i think may 6th works for me, where abouts do you guys think we should meet?
Tim Horton's at Sportsworld?
That should work out better for MrHyde who lives in Cambridge.
I try to stay away from the Ottawa St Timmy's as if it carried the Plague.
That place tends to attract too much attention, if you know what I mean
Meh i dont mind where we meet.. but thats fine... I do venture outside of cambridge ya know.. lol
Really?
Like Hespeler, Galt and Preston?? ;)
The Tims at Sportsworld works well for me to, i hail from the cambridge, ayr, area. I was realding another topic the other day, where this post started from and there were a lot more riders from the tricities.....where are all those boys...they said that they were up for a meet too?
Maybe we should try and recruit them for a good ride too?
Which thread was it?

Gookie, WREX, MrHyde, I am making the meetup thread in a few days. Just got up for work
Danielah used to post here - he had a late model GS-F that was black/red/silver, though I haven't seen him post here in a long time. Recreational_Anxiety has gone to the dark side and got a SV-650.
When I bought my GS in 2000, I was the only one with one in the tri-cities. Now, it seems that everywhere I go, I see another one.
I'll PM Gookie and WREX to see if they are still interested.
Nice.
May 6 should work nicely. The 21st I'll be in the dominican getting an early start on summer, so that wouldn't work for me. Would be interesting to meet the other GS'ers around town. Saw one in cambridge a few weeks ago. I was in my car at the time, and there was still snow on the ground :cookoo: ...
Anyway, let me know the details, and if it's not raining I'll be there. (No appropriate rain gear yet, and, rain just generally sucks both my balls, well, unless we're talking about growing food, but, we're not, so, the above applies.)
hey guys,
when the details work out, someone post them up and will come if I can. I'm in London and got a few things on the go this may, so i'm tentative for now, but yeah, will check in here and try to make it out.
thanks and have a good one guys
Well, it would seem that May 6 is a go, and all's we have to do is figure out a time.
How's 10am at the Sportsworld Tim Horton's?
Hopefully you guys will have another meet later in the year so I can make it to that. I'm just taking the RTI course in king city on the last weekend in april and I'll probably be a bit nervous about going out to kitchener so soon.
King City?
I can remember after I took my course I didn't ride on the hiway for probably the first month... And my first time on the 401 behind a truck was scary to say the least. I can remember it like it was yesterday, I was getting blown around all over the place, and starting to panic a little bit. Then I remembered something from my course, hold on to the tank with your thighs... Poof, 150% better.
One thing that still does scare me about trucks is, when you get just about oh, a metre or so behind their front bumper when you're passing, in another lane. The air that's being pushed to the side catches my bike, and it feels like someone is on the road pushing the wheels out from under me. If I prepare for it, it's not so bad, but, it's really hard to correct.
Meh, don't like the 401 in general. :)
Can't wait. Should have my tail light all done by then. (Made a custom LED one. Ran into a power supply issue and blew half of it up... Ugh. But, I know what went wrong, so, it won't happen again.)
This turned into a lot longer post than I had planned.
Hey guys, i'm really sorry but i have to bow out for the meet on the 6th, some work came up that i can't get out of, i was really pissed off, but doesn't it always seem to work out that way, when you actually plan something all of a sudden work comes in and ruins it all :flipoff: ??? Hopefully we can get together for another ride later in the season
Roll Call alert!
Who's in?
10 am at Sportsworld Tim Horton's. If you aren't there by 11, we're gone.
I'll be there unless it's raining.
Hopefully it'll be nice weather. :)
Where are you guys riding? I can't personally make it, but I've got relatives in Georgetown and if I get the chance to drag my bike over that way I'm always looking for good roads to ride.
Went to U of W a lifetime ago. I know there are curvey roads nearby, towards Elora. Can anyone post a route map?
High guys, new to the site but count me in if the meet is still on. Im from Ancaster ,about 15 min away by rapid transit (GS500)
The meet is still on.
Do you know where the Timmy's is by Sportsworld in Kitchener?
If you don't, tell me how you plan on getting here, and I can get you directions.
RedShift, you give me the ability for this forum to host photos, and you've got it.
The road you are thinking of is Northfield Ave in Waterloo...if you continue out of town, when you get past Conestogo, it gets twisty for a couple of clicks...
This GSTWINS host doesn't offer the kind of storage, but there are many who do. I use an account on PhotoBucket (http://volcano.photobucket.com/).
If you find a host of a JPG, then post the picture's URL in a message, wrap it around the Insert Image command and there you have it. Simple as 3.1415928, Eh?
Hey GS Rider , I will be coming from the east along Hyw 8/King street any directions would be helpful, thanks.
If you're coming up through Hwy 8 from Ancaster, be mindful of your speed. Sure, you can do 100kmph, but I wouldn't do much more than that. OPP is everywhere.
Anyways, I figure you'll go through Sheffield and such, and right through Cambridge. You'll see on the map that Hwy 8 is on the bottom right hand corner. When you get to the T intersection, make a left onto Fountian, and then the very next right. That will take you up a pretty large hill. Go under the overpass, and past the Costco on the right. I **think** it's the third stoplight where you turn right, just past the Costco, which is Sportsworld Dr.
Make another quick right into the plaza.
According to Streets and Trips, it'll take about 45 minutes to get there. And that's the fast way.
If you need any more directions, just ask. :)
hey guys,
as of right now, I'm tentatively in. I was waiting to see if I could get my bike back together which I just did last night, and how I felt come sunday morning, as I had a busy past week, and bunch of traveling to do today (London -> Kitchener> Ajax -> London). won't have access to the internet all day, but when I get home later tonight, i'll see how I feel about getting back over to Kitchener in the morning.
you guys will be over at the tims by sports worlds between 10am-11am. if I end up making it I'll likely get there beween 10:30-11. don't wait for me past 11 if it comes down to it. appologies for the tentativeness, but thought I'd give a heads up here anyway.
later guys and hope to hook up tomorrow.
Good going, GSRider. I think everyone enjoys a map. I should have posted a "ride to" map of similar detail for our Grattan Raceway ride of last weekend. Denman would have been able to find us -- feel a bit guilty as I had to admit the Raceway wasn't easy to find.
Have someone take plenty of pictures or hills and twisty roads. Weather looks like it'll be great for riding. Be safe and bring'em back in the same shape they felt. Enjoy... :thumb:
Redshift, I've been trying to avoid photobucket for a long time, but yes, it is useful. Thanks for the push.
I will have my camera with me: hopefully we'll get a decent amount of GS's in.
BTW, I have never liked Mapquest...I use Streets and Trips 2007 for all my mapping needs. Quite useful!
So, small family emergency last night... Couldn't make it to the ride this morning.
Sorry guys, will have to catch the next one. Hopefully soon...?
Hopefully it was a good ride, and you guys get some good pictures.

You didn't happen to be in Paris with another rider, were you?
hey guys - sorry I missed the meet. Had a late night and couldn't make it to sports world before 11. I was still in the mood for a nice ride though, so I ended up going to my brother in laws in Cambridge (galt) a little later and we went for a rip. We went from Cambridge, Paris, Glenmoris, Woodstock, Tavistock, and then I split back to London, while my brother in law headed back to Cambridge. I just got back a few minues ago.
GSRider - I was on a black GS (with black jacket and pants) and my brother in law was on a flat black yamaha. If that's what you saw in Paris, that was me.
how many turned out and what areas were you in?
we'll meet up eventually anyway...
Check out the main discussion area, I posted a few pics.
cool. where did you guys end up going? that pic by the bridge looks like glenmoris. must of crossed paths (but I don't remember seeing 4 gs's)
next time...
Yep, it's Glen Morris.
From Kitchener to Paris to Glen Morris to Cambridge.
I am pretty sure we saw you going up the hill in paris just as we were going down.
I think you're the only GS in the region with twin headlights, so it must've been you.
likely. sorry i missed the ride. pics look good - nice bikes guys. I'll do my best to meet up next time during the summer.
until then, take care.

I wish I was riding at all...
Sorry, wasn't me...
