Title: Australian RECALL GS500FK6
Post by: s4gs on February 11, 2007, 09:48:23 PM
On page 12 of the Feb. edition of Aust. Motor Cycle News there is a very small note stating -

  RECALL: GS500FK6
Suzuki is recalling all 2006 model GS500F motorcycles. The recall notice reads:
"Some units may have had the bolts that secure the rear disc to the rim tightened incorrectly.
This could result in a loss of control of the motorcycle, possibly causing the rider to crash."
Affected owners are advised to contact their local Suzuki dealer.

Those of you with an 06 should ring your dealer even if the bolts on your disc are tight.

Did this really need to be posted twice?

The Oz section doesn't get used that much & there are those that only post there & not here.
You have a problem with making sure people hear about this?

All the sections get hit just about the same.  The majoraty of the frequent users here use the "new posts" button.

No disrespect to you Mak, but there's no way either of us can know where people, frequent users or not,
look. Being a recall notice, i feel it holds a bit more weight than idle chit chat.

You may not be able to, but those of us who know how to read and how to click buttons can know such things.

Considering the importance of the topic, I don't see any problem with a little bit of cross-posting.

Thanks for posting this up. So does this only affect AUS bikes, or does this also affect US bikes??

Well Mac considering the GS500 is not made in Australia and comes into the country in a crate mostly assembled it may be good for everyone else around the world to see there is a problem it was probably only a batch sent to Australia but you never know how many others escaped to be sent elsewhere somebody in say germany could be riding around thinking the back feels funny but it felt that way when I bought it so oh well, until disaster strikes and also why would anybody who is not Australian really bother looking at the OZ section its not like they can join a ride or anything like that and if anyone comes up with a good idea we suggest it be put in the General discussion if your reading all the posts put on this forum you need to a) go for a ride, b) go work on the bike, c) get a life. There's more to riding and living bikes then the internet. :thumb:
