Title: Cheap exhaust mod
Post by: busterkat on February 13, 2007, 02:51:38 PM
I just found this muffler in my new catalog and thought some one might be able to fab something up with it. A possible high mount, direct slip on,or under the bike system....... its only $20.99                    http://www.jpcycles.com/productgroup.aspx?GID=1992f196-7453-43f9-9922-e68c4b199991

its not like the V&H is anything more sound restrictive than that lol. just a straight pipe with some fiberglass packing around it.

Can volume has a tremendous effect on sound regardless of core design.

That can will be LOUD!!! Lots of popping and angry noises. Be ready for crying babies and old people shaking their fists at you if you run that on your bike

I've been thinking....alot of quads are 500cc+ nowadays... how would a quad exhaust work on a gs?

ATV exhausts in general are pretty restrictive...the quiet atvs, anyway.  The ones that sound good are straigth throguh and cost as much as systems bought for the bike.

I'm using a titanium RM250 yosh muffler on a TL exhaust I'm working on right now.

So, is that can any good, or not?

pastrana...if you find a good can it'll work fine for the gs.  The TL setup I'm building just uses one and it's not too obnoxious.  The OEM pieces are really good in build, but they're heavy.  The aftermarket bits are expensive.  Make sure you look at something that's designed around a 500+ cc 4-stroke or a 250+ cc 2-stroke.

Matty...no. As said, you may as well not have a can at all.

 Mak I've already made a can work..I've got a cbr1000 two brothers CF can...that thing kicks ass...not as loud as you would think...but still pretty noisey..

A baffle is far more significant ... you want to break up the big noise into some smaller noises ... dom, dom dom, dom ... to druuum druuuuum ...
Cool.

I used a 4x16 Yosh can and midpipe from a full system orginally for a ZX-11. Only paid $10 for it. The pipe diameter is a little larger (~2-1/8" ID) than I wanted but I got it all connected cleanly. Hopefully I can get some pics this weekend.
