Title: so i got my bike back from the mechanic
Post by: frye on February 17, 2007, 04:13:59 PM
(http://pic40.picturetrail.com/VOL280/7367448/14027904/231245935.jpg).
i had to have the tires, bars, fairing, cowling, tail, and crank cover replaced. i think it turned out to be like 4000 something in parts. but yea i got perelli tires and a jardine exhaust system put in and im pretty excited about how well both work. i got my bike thursday and i already put another 200 something miles on it. now i think imma get some sm2 bars, gimbell rear seats, new front bulbs, double bubbe windscreen and give her a fenderplasty. can anyone else think of some other stuff.

you spent 4k on parts?  How much did you spend on labor?  I'm guessing the insurance company cut the check to you?  If that is the case, why did you spend so much fixing up that GS?  Is it paid for?  you do realize you can get a running GS for half that price?  I'm sure there's more to the story, so please fill us in.

P.S, New springs, rear shock, rejet if you haven't done so already, kat rear wheel, lunchbox.  That should be enough to keep you busy for a couple days.

well the insurence paid for it all. i shoulda just called it in totalled. but when i got in the accident i thought it was my fault. but the city was at fault for waving me through what i later learned was wet tar. and the main reason i thought it was my fault is because its my first bike. ive rideen before and have done the MSF course but it was still my first bike. it was such a bad situation. the police officer claimed that i crashed because of inexperience when you could clearly see how my treads were filled with tar. i actually was a criminal justice major until this happened. you guys have no idea how mad i wass at the officer for writing that in the police report. i wanna rub the insurence paper that i recently recieved saying that the county goverment is at fault for not putting signs up and having workers wave me through a newly paved road in that officers face. anyways im actually  pretty happy with how everything turned out. and i wanna rejet the carbs next weekend.

Glad everything worked out for you, and that you didn't come out of pocket.  Good luck with the rejet.

Search the wiki site , or here for the jet sizes. Your local dealer may have the jets. If you have a good relationship with them they will be glad to help you....or they'll suck!

my dealer is in LA which kinda sucks in the first place cause its a few hours away. but i have a local shop called RPM do all my major work. theyre the greatest. theyre the ones who actually convinced me to get a gs500. i wanted a gixer but they were nice enough to convince me that i didnt need that  much bike. i got the gs and im pretty glad i did. but yea im sure theyd order it for me  :icon_mrgreen:
