Hi all,
First post here, so please be gentle! ;-)
I'm having problems fitting a Baglux tank cover to a recently acquired
2000 (EY) model GS500E.
I've fitted three of them before (to a variety of makes/models of
previously owned motorcycles) and realise you need to warm them up to
fit them easily and that they take a while to 'bed in'. However, this
one seems to be about 4-5 cm too short at the front end.

None of my previous Baglux tank covers have ever had more than 1cm of
gap/overhang around the edge.
What gives?
Is it supposed to be like this?
Have earlier (or after 2000) versions of the bike got slightly shorter
tanks?
Have Baglux just made it too short???
Sorry for all the questions. If anyone in the group has a Baglux tank
cover they could compare it with for me, I would be very grateful.

I've got an earlier one and also have that same gap you show. On the Baglux site, they say the up until the 92's don't cover the bike's full tank fully, but that's a 2000 cover, so it shouldn't be an issue (that being said, mine is a 94, and same deal).
What about the sides, are they all the way to the frame or are they short (pics?)
Bagsters aren't that common in North America (took me a while to find one to get to Canada), but maybe others from Europe will chime in.

89-00 tanks are the same and 01+ tanks are the same

The sides aren't really an issue. They aren't any better or worse than previous tank covers I've had. It's the front that concerns me. The cover is slowly settling on to the tank and there is no way in hell the front will ever stretch 4-5 cm.
I've sent Baglux UK an email with pictures of the tank cover and they have sent the pictures off to Baglux (france) to be looked at.
I've just got to wait now for them to get back to me.
What would be useful is for anyone who has a 2000 GS with a tank cover to confirm what their one looks like fitted.

Got a response back from Baglux (Bagster)...
"Try using a hair dryer to aid the fitting."
Funnily enough, what with this being my fourth Bagster tank cover, I had actually done this already.

I know Vinyl stretches, but 5cm!?! :cookoo:
After a week and a half of constant fettling (heating and stretching) it still has a 4-5 cm gap at the front and the area around the filler cap is still raised.
Not impressed. I don't recommend buying a Bagster tank cover for the 2000 (EY). The one they supplied me doesn't fit. :nono:
