Hey all I'm on a upgrade/modding rampage with my new tires and now my new drag bars!
A couple questions for you drag bar owners out there. First off I have the black drag bars from AZ motorsports.
1. Did you have probs with the bolt outta your front brake resevoir hitting the top of the triple tree (yoke, whatever ya all call it)?
2. I ordered progrips from AZ motorsports as well and they don't seem to cover the throttle body the way the stock ( i assume they were) grips did. Are there better grip choices out there that i can try?
Are there any other things i should be concerned about, idle, etc when i take it out tomorrow. seeing as i didn't do the install until 12:30am here and it's raining like hell outside to boot.

Don't be an idiot like me and forget to check the steering locks before tightening it all up. :?
I just reused my stock grips.
A lttle WD-40 and a long screwdriver and a few twists and they come right off.

Pablo has used Katana grips I think. The OEM ones. And yes I had an issue with the brake resevoir as well. I have mine sitting on top of the tree. It was a pain in the butt!
I have also had issues with vibrations because I also went to barend mirrors (emgo) so I added a bar snake. It seemed to help some, but I think better grips are required as well.
So - if there are other grips out there that folks have used I'd be interested in knowing what they are etc. too. :mrgreen:
just fired the bike up and when i turn the bars to the right the bike idles at about 3 or 4 grand. everywhere else it's fine. I know the problem is with how the throttle cable is stretched, but what did you folks do to fix it?

for the throttle issue when the bars are turned to the right...what i did was to turn the bars to the right and then adjust the screw on the throttle cable until it didn't rev with the bars turned. took about a minute or so. the adjuster isn't on the housing, it's on the actual cable a couple inches down the line. :thumb:

I had to play with re-routing the cable on mine. Before it was coming up the right side of the frame and I had to move it to be coming up the left side of the frame so the length would be more constant. I don't think I had to change the choke but I can't remember.

no, it didn't. i didn't have to change anything but that and it idles at around 1,300 to 1,500 rmp's no matter if i have the bars turned to either side. *shrug* no choke adjustment or idle screw adjustment. i found the fix by searching this forum and one of the members told me about it. let me see if i can find the thread.

regarding grips:
aftermarket grips (I've heard) don't have the lip necessary to seat on the throttle body, or something like that. Srinath suggested stock Katana grips-much more cushion, more comfortable and fits like stock...
and everyone has trouble with the brake banjo bolt hitting. I have teh Suburban bars and they do the same to me but they hit the tach mounting bracket instead of the triple. One way to fix is to replace the master cylinder with a 88-93 gsx-1100 (not 750 or 600!)-this uses the same m/c but the banjo is mounted to front of m/c instead of side like GS. other gsx m/c's (like the 750 or 600, or other years) have same exact m/c as GS so no good there.
Otherwise, people jsut live with it-small price to pay for better handling.

Hmm didnt have the bolt problem, had a problem with the brake line being in the way so I loosened the banjo bolt and turned the brake line more parallel with the bike and works fine.
I also have the extra bar vibe, was gonna fill it with jbweld.
