Mine has snapped and the bottom part is corroded into that bit that sticks out the front of the head. Can I just pull this out or is the worm drive an integral part of it? I can't make it out from the 'fiche.
I have done this before but it was nearly 10 years ago and I've got a c**p memory.
The worm drive part stays attached to the head. Unscrew the large splined nut not the small phillip (or hex) screw. IIRC, the cable has the female connection and the drive has the male.
......this reminds that I need to make a plug so I remove the drive since I have electronic tach now.
When you fit the new one smother it with grease especially at the bottom end, they always break at that point, water ingression collects and the cable rusts, sometimes there is a telltale swelling on the outer. This happened on my Yammy.
It's at the cylinder head it's seized, the cable has a male on it and the engine has the female, I want to take the assembly off the engine so I can get the seized thread out in the workshop instead of while it's attatched to the engine
To remove the drive, remove the small screw and the drive pulls out. If you need another drive, I have a couple of them already removed.
Thanks, I pulled it out this afternoon and those 2 bits of metal have become one!
Thanks for the offer but as I'm in the UK I'll order one from the shop, I'm taking it thursday for new tyres so I'll get it then.
