HP Pavilion DV6233SE Special Edition Webcam Vista
The main thing I'm worried about is the onboard vid chip. I know you cannot up grade onboard gpu, but does this laptop have a space for a true vid card?
I already asked HP and ummm never got a response. Reason why I'm asking is that they have this for sale for $700 at Best Buy.
Or do you think the onboard gpu would be ok to play games on? Need a laptop to play eq when I'm not at home .
That onboard card should run EQ just fine, the requirements are less than WoW, right? I run WoW on my crappy Toshiba laptop. However, the question is whether or not Vista will run EQ.
I'd try to find a laptop without vista, but XP Home or Pro. Check This Thread (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=33322.0) for more details.
Just my $.02 though.
Yeah that laptop should run EQ alright. For the most part video cards are not upgradeable in laptops.
also +1 to NGFL. XP trumps Vista's crappyness.
and for the record are you talking about EQ or EQ2?
EQ. I tried EQ2 but missed my toons to much. If Vista is on any laptop I get the first upgreade I do will be installing XP Pro
I guess I should go and pick one up then. Thanks for the answers :thumb:
Didn't I just read that you can't install Pro on a vista laptop?
Oh no: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=33322.msg370990#msg370990
Just can't install pro on a dell vista machine, so you should be ok.
Good luck with it Dave!
get a mac.
vista is a virus. windows is retarded (xp is the least retarded...but still retarded). or, if you just HAVE TO HAVE windows, get a new mac and install XP pro instead of OSX, which is actually a better OS.
my $.02

getting a mac would require a much thicker wallet. I think that he asked cause he saw what he thought was a good deal on a laptop and doesn't want to spend the 2000 or more for an equivalent mac.
