the riding position of SV650 naked or GS500? I assume SV, anyone have some long term saddle time they can comment on?

I know the SVS is more (Clip-ons)... Enough to hurt my back. :icon_confused:
^says it. SV is about the same as the GS + legroom. The SVS has higher rearests, iirc, and lower bars so it is a lot more aggressive in posture. I actually prefer the S.
I tend to agree with Mak on the comfort. When I first rode a bike with clipons, it really hurt my lower back and wrists, but after a week or daily riding (an hour a day), I was used to it and wouldn't go back unless it were on a streetfighter or motard. The SV is comparable to the GS in position, but the SVS feels more attached to you.

I beg to differ. Ridden and owned all varieties of machines and I simply can not find "everything" in just one. Motards seem cramped in comparison to an Electraglide.

Yeah, but there's an upside and downside to everything. Yeah motards are great city bikes, but with no wind protection, highway time sucks, even in short stints. Also try hitting a 110mph sweeper with a 50hp bike and you'll understand why people buy high powered sportbikes. Then again, you do have bikes like the Speed Triple, FZ1, SV1000, Z1000, and 919 that make it hard to buy anything else unless you spend a lot of time at the track.

Y'know, I've read that the rearsets are higher/further back on forums and on review websites, but I checked them out right next to each other, twice, at motorcycle shows, and I sure couldn't see any difference at all. They looked identical. I strongly suspect the ONLY difference is the clip-ons.
As far as I know, 2nd gen ('03-'07) SV's have the same peg position. 1st gen SV's ('99-'02) have a noticeable difference. The SVS is a more aggressive posture that takes a little getting used to. Feels like you're atop the bike vs. down in the bike with the stock GS.
it hurts my back! I think i smell somthing, sniff, sniff. I rode 200 miles on my Gixxer yesterday. Suck it up and ride on.
