Title: The Bike Died
Post by: Blast on March 01, 2007, 11:07:32 PM
I week after I bought my 06 GS500F I took my girl for a ride in the canyons we made it up there nice it got dark quick, with nothing for miles and a pitch black road and very dependent on my headlamp,
then all of a sudden my bike starts sputtering badly and wanting to turn off the light would dim.
Finally it dies. I was like WTF I had just put gas in it. It acted up when I moved the battery around so I stuck one of my girlfriend's  socks next to it so I ran and we made it back home.

Next day I saw the the positive battery cable had come separated at the crimp!
By placing the sock it tilted the battery so that it made contact.
I ended up replacing the crimp on the positive terminal with a better quality piece.

Is this a common problem?

06? Did you buy it New or Used? Either way I would Run by the Dealer since it Should still be Under Warranty and Have them Install a New Cable. Not that Your fix won't work just because it's new and that should be In their hands. :thumb:
