Hey!
I am parting out a MINT 01 gixer @ work. What can I take from it and put on the gs?
shock, front end
ok.. the rear shock I thought was cool.. I saw a post of someones who needed to use the rear linkage as well w/ that. Right???
Is the front end a direct fit? anymods to it? can I use the gixer forks/clipons and GS spedo ad tac? What about using the whole front wheel w/ brakes too? maybee even the speedo and tac? can I use that?
Any ideas on the sub frame? can I use the rear of this gixer on the GS w/ little modification? I love the split seat look...
anyone who wants parts from this bike PM me.. I will be parting out the whole thing engine, plastics, frame and all.....
Is it a stock muffler or after market? Would It sound decent on a gs? I might be interested in it, I would like to put my name on it if I CAN. (get it.. lol) :icon_rolleyes:
hmm just for shits and giggles, what will you take for the engine?
:dunno_white:
I dunno how much for the engine.. find some comparable prices on eBay or something and make an offer :thumb: as far as the can.. I will let you know :thumb:

I use GSXR linkages since the springs are larger in diameter. It provides clearance at the swingarm.
Not completely sure about the 01 gix6 stem but it is probably a little longer. Swapping stems may be possible but from my experience, aluminum stems have been slightly smaller in diameter then steel by about .25-.5mm. Swapping bearings will be required. Turning the stem to fit is always an option. Just do some rough measurements of the head length to see what you are getting into.
Along with the forks and triples...you will need the wheel, rotors, calipers, master cylinder, fender, clip-ons....and some kind mounts for the headlight.
Steering stops will need to be moddified.
The Gix wheel does not a place for the GS mechanical speed pick-up, they use a magnetic sensor at the front sprocket.
You can use the Gix gauges if you want to figure out where and how to get a speed signal to it. The tach and rest of the lights are easy to connect.
Not a problem. :thumb:
Hey! Thanks DG
The front end sounds like too much work for me but the rear sounds fairly simple... Do you think its a worth wile upgrade? Will I be able to get much more height out of it? how much? I have always wanted to get the rear end up a few inches :thumb:
Thanks again DG!

The forks may be envolved but it is well worth it.
The shock is a little under 13", close to 12-7/8"...tough to measure on the bike. Either way it is less than the SV. I have a '02 gix6 on my 97 but I made a new upper mount to utilize the ride height adjustability.

8 miles and parting? WTF happened?
I work at a suzuki dealer.. this bike was bought new back in 92 and when they tried to register it Suzuki said that the VIN did not exist.. We have the MSO but they still say its not a Suzuki :( its a strange situation but the bike is legit.. never left this dealership. But it cant be registered and it looks as if parting it out will bring almost $5,000 where selling it we might not get that much... soo :) I get to strip down a perfectly good bike and get paid for it :thumb: I also get commission on the parts so I cant wait :thumb:
Here is a pic before I start rippin... :icon_mrgreen:

Man.. your tellin me... I wish I could just buy it... It has sat in the back of our shop for the last 5 years, untouched... I droped in a new battery in and it cranked over on its first try :icon_mrgreen:
thats crazy ... i'd be like ..hrmmmm... run to the DPS and see what it would take to get a salvage title for it ( its gonna be for you....not like your gonna wanna sell it an time soon ) ts just crazy .. but i see why they would want to part it out though . there never gonna get what they could get for it by just saleing it

I just got a new Job today. I may be interested but dont hold it for me.
hey how much would you sell the bike as a whole for?
Well.. I told the boss that I could prob. get about $3500-4000 by parting it... I think they would want about $4600 for it whole. If they will sell it whole... I duno. I think they really just want it parted out.
What do you guys think its worth whole? or parts?
It starts right up and runs smoth as can be... It has 17.. YES (0000017) Miles on it, It is a 2001 GSXR600 and it is as clean and new as it sat day one on the show room floor. :icon_mrgreen:
I have more pics, and even video of it running :thumb:
well hell man, POST AWAY ! ! !
This strikes me as being kinda ridiculous, if it's a legit bike that has never left the dealership why wouldn't you be able to get someone at Suzuki to sign off on the paperwork and create the VIN? It is a clerical error that should be easily fixed, people f%$k up VINs all the time. My Speed Four had a VIN that supposedly never existed, once I checked up on it, the shop that issued the title mistook an 8 for a 3 and that was solved by going to the DMV and letting them know, really simple. Run this by your boss before you tear that piece of artwork apart.
How much for the fairings, cause they'd look pimp on my GS

They want a good bit of $$$ for them...
We sell most things for around what our normal cost is.. I try to go a little less, but there is no reason to sell an OEM, Brand new part for much less..

I am sure there is a mistake by the shop that originaly caused this problem... and if they wanted, I am sure they could fix it.. but they dont. I am there to make $$$ and I will make more parting it than it would be on the sales floor. And.. its already mostly appart :icon_mrgreen:
and some of the parts are already on ebay

That would be a cool project, gixxer frame with a GS motor in it. Just make sure it's a F model motor so you've got the added benefit of the oil cooler :bs:
ashame.. thats a beautiful bike..
damn that engine would be nice in the gs.
