Title: GSXR Can
Post by: Anakist on March 15, 2007, 12:04:52 AM
Will the stock can of a GSXR be a worthwhile upgrade over the one on a GS? It also fits a TL1000 so it should be better than the stock one without being too loud.

I have get one for AU$65 delivered if that influences the advice.

I put one on mine & don't mind it. It has a good sound & looks better than the stocker, plus it was cheaper than buying a full system.  :thumb:

i had a gsxr 1000 can on mine, the only thing it realy did was take up room but it was soooo much lighter than the stock one.

i now have a scropin can on the flange the stock gix pipe cam with and it sounds ok but you got to remeber its still jsut a twin soo.....

The GSXR/TL cans are heavy. Personally I would not bother with them unless I got one for free and I had to replace the can. But I do not care for the sound from stock cans either.

What I had to do to mount it on was make a flange to bolt the can to. I can give you a template for the flange if yours is a 4 bolt.

I moved the mounting position for the can from the front to the rear of the foot peg holder.

The flange & new mounting position

That can looks pretty good. It matches the bodywork line.

Not wild about the fuzzy seat though.

But the fuzzy seat is so comfy & plus it covers up the cracks.

The only trouble is it takes a little bit to dry out when it gets wet.

Sounds a little too personal .

I bought a 76 vega wagon in high school with the entire interior covered in LUV FUR

paid $5 more than the junk man...$40
one side of the car was shorter than the other
front springs were seriously collapsed....had 6-8 spring expanders in each to ger the wheels to sit kinda flat on the road
ate tires about every 3-4 weeks
good thing there was a free supply of tires out behind the co-op....at night.... :icon_twisted:
