Title: First track day...and some mods.
Post by: Mk1inCali on March 25, 2007, 04:04:42 PM
So, having turned the GS over to 25K miles (all by me over the last 6 years, as well as 30K miles on other bikes), I've got a track day coming up on the 8th of April a.  I have spring break the week before, which will give me plenty of time to get it prepped and all situated.

I just installed some Woodcraft clipons on the Racetech sprung stock front forks yesterday and it's greatly improved my sense of security while in corners over any of the tubular bars I've had on there.  Rear suspension is stock right now but is getting a '96 GSXR750 shock and a re-grease upon installation over spring break.  I've got it rejetted, pod filters and the black stealth can Yoshimura pipe, as well as the Bob B. advancer.  Runs tight and strong.

I would like to find some new F3 rearsets and the linkage.  My left rearset is tweaked inboard and on my last move to SD, I lost the shift linkage, so I need to get something going there as reaching from the rearset to the stock shifter is too much to do while leaned way over.

I guess this is sort of a rant/blog, but I need suggestions on what I can run for racier rubber now that Pilot Sports are phased out.  Pilot Powers, Diablos, what are you racer guys running these days?

I meant that while in a turn at all, the necessary foot movement is a tad excessive.  It'd be a lot less upsetting to the chassis I feel if I could keep my foot on the peg and not move my entire left leg to shift mid-corner.

I work at buymoto.com, so I might be able to get some tires cheap.  I'll see what my employee discount can do for me, otherwise I might just go with those B-stones at stickboy.  Thanks for the link.

I'll check tomorrow when I get in and see if I can get stuff thru them.  Otherwise I can get Pilot Powers at basically cost, so I might run those as I liked the Pilot Sports I had on before I mounted the current set of Pilot Roads and since I can do tire changes for free, I can swap back and forth between my commuter tires (Pilot Roads) and sticky/fun tires (Pilot Powers).

Thanks for the info boys!
