Title: Nicked the fork slider
Post by: sanjay on March 25, 2007, 08:14:39 PM
In an effort to break the damper rod bolt, I nicked the donut-shaped surfaces perpendicular to the axle hole on the left fork slider.  It's circled in red in the diagram.  These are the surfaces against which the speedometer drive and the front wheel bearing turn against.  Do these surfaces have to be perfectly flat?  Will it damage the bearing or drive to turn against an imperfect surface?

No, it wont hurt the bearing, or drive unit.  The drive unit doesn't move, so no problem there.

Ah right, my mistake.  Only touches the axle head and the outside of the drive unit.  Thanks!
