Hey guys, 5month old GS500 11,6670kms on clock, had 2 services no shim changes, next service at 12,000kms, last week have noticed ticking, clicking noise that i can only hear well in 2nd/3rd under 60km as wind obliterates the noise above that, when you pull the clutch lever in the noise dissapears and come straight back once in gear again, cannot hear the noise if i put it on the center stand, in gear and rev it, so may only happen under load? thought it might be valve adjustment but have been told that the noise would still be there whether the clutch lever was in or not??
any takers???
Have it checked when servicing next time. My guesses : lack of oil, exposing metals, or maybe overfilled, check the oil level.
Are you using clutch when shifting gears? Maybe a tooth has worn on 2nd-3rd gear and it is clicking now. That would explain the absence of ticking under no load.
Or maybe you piston fell off and now it is rattling around inside your engine :dunno_white: . But that is highly unlikely :)
You're not using that crap regular unleaded we are forced to endure. May be pinging under load, try some premium (not shell) and give it a go.
Update on Noise!
I seem to be the only one that hears it and the service guy cant find anything with the Valve Clearance, etc..so either im hearing things or the whole worlds out to get me..... :dunno_white:

Check your Drive Chain you may have a Kink in one Link.
A mate at work suggested that so off came the chain, its all good, just as well as i clean with kero once a month and re oil every week.
Its very annoying that i seem to be the only one that hears this noise, maybe i am just hearing a 'normal' sound that i have made into something its not?
The bike itself is great: same fuel consumption, same power, same responsiveness.
Probably just a dodgy rider :cookoo:

Maybe something on your helmet or jacket or something? A zipper or something. Just a guess.
