Hello,
It just occured to me how much I notice cars with xenon bulbs at night, and as you all know being noticed is what its all about on a bike...for safety and the ego ;). But seriously, is it possible to get xenon or white light bulbs for the GS500E? If so where?
you can't run xenon bulbs in a stock GS. you have to have the proper ballasts and a projector tuned to the light pattern.
A standard halogen light will be hot enough to burn white. Wal-MArt carries about 5 different varieties.
Hey,
Wonder how good they would be in the GS too. I stumbled across this eBay seller w/ Xenon bulbs for sale

-Item is for one pair and is Brand New
-Fits any vehicle that the bulb application is H4.
-SuperWhite Color

you'd get lights twice as bright as halogen, half the power consumption!
Cheers
Edit: I think these are for a 500 F
Where does it say that they use less power? In order for them to use less power they're going to have to dimmer bulbs, and I certainly wouldn't want bulbs that are dim or tinted, much less both.

The light output in lumens in much higher than halogen bulbs, they draw less power though to keep the bulb lit though. Igniting the bulb in the first place takes a lot of energy, which is why you need the ballasts, same idea as flourescent bulbs.
If you are going to make the switch, you don't NEED a projector, but the light is going to be cast in every direction and will blind everyone in front of you. You will also probably lose the Hi beams. The only way this makes sense to do is to chop up the headlight on a GS500F and put the projector from an Acura TSX or BMW E46, buy a used ballast on eBay and a bulb online, you can set it up for about $200 if you're smart about it. You did notice that the auction is for a tinted H4, right? :cookoo: :icon_rolleyes:
I just love it when Doug posts. :nono:

You really get your panties in a bunch over insignificant stuff, don't you? Try a little Massengill, it may help.
I was talking about the theory behind how HID lamps work vs. halogens, not about those specific bulbs. Let me know if the forum changed rules so that you can only specifically address questions that have already been asked and I'll try to watch out for what I post, until then, shut the f%$k up. :kiss3:
Wasn't there a post just like this from last week? I tire about arguing over lightbulbs.

Moron you just tried to tell me that a tinted halogen bulb had a higher lumens rating. You need to pay more attention to what's going on before trying to explain shaZam!.
I was trying to explain the difference BETWEEN HID and Halogen, if you read my post, it was pretty apparent. You gotta stop being such a douchebag when it comes to this forum, try helping the newbies and the uninformed before you try and match wits with me just for the sake of argument. You don't have the mental horsepower to keep up. 8)
I WILL TURN THIS THREAD AROUND if you two kids don't stop fighting!!!
I wasn't talking about a f%$king HID/Xenon bulb :icon_rolleyes:. You sat there and tried to tell people, in response to my post, that a tinted f%$king halogen H4 has more lumens and draws less power. The only person here who said ANYTHING about xenon bulbs is the guy in the very first damn post and my response to him. The link groff22 posted is to a TINTED HALOGEN H4.
You need to f%$king pay attention to what people say and stop assuming everyone just wants to argue with your ass.

Are you seriously trying to say that you're not picking a fight with me after calling me a moron? I'll admit that my response was vague, but my point was not incorrect, HID lamps produce more lumens and consume more power. If your blind rage got in the way of seeing that, then it's on you to fix it.
I should have paid closer attention and worded my response differently, but this thread is about HIDs, that's what I was addressing. Stop taking your pent up aggression out on me. It's not my fault you're a broke ass hick who has nothing better to do than argue with people on the internet and pour his menial paychecks into POS bikes like your maggot and the glorious SSSA TL. Get a f%$king life man, if you take the time you spent everyday being a twat on GSTwin and got a real job or did something productive, you'd be a much happier person.
SHUT THE f%$k UP, BOTH OF YOU!!! Doug and Poo Face... SHUT THE f%$k UP!!!
Thanks buddies!
