Hey everyone... Time to get the bike out of winter storage and I need some new bars.
I was looking thru the topics on here and I think I like the pullback on clubmans... but I dont want them to be so low (SM2's are too expensive!) and the cost of risers seems pretty pricey too...
I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on just flipping the clubmans over so the bars sit above the triple tree?
could, but how much are the clubmans?
check out some bikemaster bars or something cheaper if it was me?
Do you want a more aggresive ride(SM2 style) or do you want more upright(i.e. risers)
I actually tried that for a bit. It worked fine functionality wise and wasn't that bad a of a ride position either. I eventually decided I wasn't totally happy with how far it raised the bars and tried cutting/rewelding them to make them more like SM2s. I got tired of messing with it and got drag bars instead, which I wound up bending anyway. I think I'm just going to break down and get clip-ons or SM2s if I feel the need to get new bars again.

Clubmans are pretty cheap for the most part... Bikemaster (http://store.azmusa.com/knclubhanbla.html)makes Clubmans
I do want a slightly more aggressive stance like the SM2's but I'm wondering about weight on my wrists... but I definetly want something more aggressive than stock

Would hou say that having the clubmans mounted like that was as high or lower than stock? and how was the pull back?
I was also thinking like you said... cutting and re-welding... but I think I may just use them as a guide to build a whole new set if I decide to go that route
I know this is a kinda older posts , but I was just outside with my Clubmans looking at how i'd like to set them (while my stock bars were still in place) . They are supposed to be installed with the "U" shaped center section as the highest point correct ? I saw that they'd work either way , but I want the lower option personally .
To clarify , the bars have a "U' in the center , the "U" tips are where the hand-grip part of the bars start , with a hard corner on each side where the hang grip portion comes off at an angle . Basically , the "correct" way would be to have the "U" shape upside down as it passes through the risers , correct ?
Lemme try this , i know it's crude , but wth I'll try hehe :
is THIS the correct way
____
a) ___/ \___
or this way :
___ ____
b) \____/
(all views assuming you're sitting on the bike looking at the bars )
As always , thanks in advance for your time :icon_mrgreen:

If you want the position of (a) then SM2 or clip-ons is the way to go
He's asking about clubman bars which do traditionally mount upside down from standard bars. The wiki has some pictures.

They're like SM2s
err ... yeah , what Scotty said :thumb:
Clubman's have a 5 inch drop. Waaaay too much ... 1-2 inch drop max.
Flip it over and they are a 5 inch rise, none of the controls reach, they are super wide and very very uncomfortable and unsporty looking/feeling.
Cool.
