Title: summer leather jacket recommendations
Post by: RichyT415 on March 30, 2007, 01:06:28 PM
Hello all,

As summer approaches, I'm starting to feel the heat from my current leather jacket.  (its non-perforated, 1.6mm thick and a sauna!)
I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations for a leather jacket suitable for summer riding.  I live in downtown Philadelphia and do a lot of stop and go riding.

I'm looking for a leather jacket (no textiles), hopefullly thin but still durable, and I would prefer it to have CE armor and vents/perforations.

Any suggestions?

This one's not leater but i'll pitch it to you anyways:

I've got a cortech GX-Air in red and I love it

its got 3 layers...
the outer shell with leather(elbows, shoulders and back/spine) armor and mesh
one waterproof liner
one insulation liner

all 3 together make the jacket fell really full... but I usually just ride with the shell when it's warm out, or maybe the insulation liner when its a little cooler...

I've also got the GX-Air, and can't speak highly enough of it. I've been down in it twice, once at 30, once at 60, 1st left no damage, 2nd left two small holes, both times I walked away some bruises and that's it. It's cool enough to be used in florida summers (that's where I bought the bike), and warm enough with the liners in to be used at about 30 degrees F. Leather in all the important areas (forearm/elbow/shoulders/back), reinforced with CE approved armor at all those places.
