Will these things break in nicely? They are so stiff right now I can't even shift.
I've never owned a pair of cycle boots before.
On a side note. The service/people at new enough were great! I just hope I bought the right boots.
Thanks,
Brandon
newenough is great! boots will break in. I wore them around the office all day for a long time and they're super comfortable now...enough so that I always wear them in the office now...
btw- I have Sidi boots.
I have had my SMX boots since December now and I'm really happy with them (basic black color). They took a couple weeks for me to break them in. You might try wearing them around the house if you can take a little warmth. I noticed the velcro at the top of my boots can iritate my skin a little but that went away as they broke in. I wore them around school when I rode and they were fine. They are a little tough on the knees if you do a lot of standing and walking (3 hour lab class) around but otherwise they are fine to wear to school. They are comfortable all day long on my bike and you do have to get used to shifting with them. You might need to adjust your shift lever but I didn't have to.
I have lowsided in them once and other than the scuffed up toe slider they still look new. I would definitely recommend these boots who are willing to spend the money. My feet and ankles feel naked now if I don't wear them.
Its kinda funny about school. I thought I'd get some strange comments because they are kinda superhero boots but noone noticed (or said anything at least ;)). A couple told me they were cool though 8)
I have to make sure I buy jeans that will fit over them though. I have a pair of Lucky Brand jeans that I can't wear with them because they don't fit over the boots.
Have fun and be safe! I've also heard nothing but great praise for New Enough
After wearing them for a little while they seem a little tight in the toe area (width wise). Do they loosen up any as they break in or should a go for the next size up? I ordered them online so I took my best guess.
Thanks again,
Brandon
Mine did loosen up but I never really had a width problem around my toes so I don't think I'm qualified to give you a good answer. I'm sure if you call New Enough they will help you out. I've heard there are some slight width differences between the Sidi's and Alpinestars so maybe you'll fit better in the other. I wish I could give you something more than that but these boots are not cheap and I wouldn't want you to be unhappy with them after spending so much. You may need a larger size but I really don't know
Thanks guys! I'll give them a call. Maybe the Sidi's are wider.

NewEnough told me that Alpinestars and JoeRocket tend to run the widest among the brands they carry. If it's leather, I'd think it would stretch a bit...
