So, I decided to use the mod section to do a blinker stalk chop. I ended up chopping front and rear stalks with less work than the listed directions. I should have taken pics of in process but I will try to do a good walk-thru and post an after pic tomm.
tools needed: (in addition to those required for reg. mod)
- 1/2 drill bit
- cut-off wheel
- wire-brush wheel
- bench grinder
- outdoor contact cement or something similar (epoxy)
step-thru:
follow main mod removing stalk, bulb, wiring, etc..
cut stalk to same length as in mod around 2 1/8 inches.
--change--
take that part you cut off (with the factory inserted lug)
using a box-cutter(razor blade) i trimmed down the rubber around the insert as much as i could.
use a wire brush wheel to finish getting off all the old rubber on the insert.
now that you have a nice shiny insert time to cut it up!!

Need to cut the insert right here. chop it off right where the insert size decreases.
so now we have this:

Once you are here use your frindly bench mounted grind wheel to bevel your cut off edge to make it easier for insertion (also, be sure to clean off any exterior and interior burrs)
Ok, back to the cut off stalk we need to prep for re-install. using the factory hole down the center as a guide drill it out with a 1/2 inch drill bit.
Almost done!
grab your contact cement of choice and lather up that insert you have prepped.
slam it into the stalk you modified(oh, make sure you align it to fit back into factory alignment space)
let it sit to cure for a few hours ..have a beer or 3
come back and put your bulb back in..etc etc and reinstall it on bike using nut..
Seemed easier for me than original mod and i could do it to front also.
Cheers!

You did the front stalks too? I wanted to shorten them but they weren't included in the how to.
