Title: Wierd Tach readings
Post by: Mr Hyde on April 02, 2007, 07:09:58 AM
Hey there... was out for a ride on the weekend and my Tach is all messed up...
When the key is turned on ( motor not running ) the tach reads 4000 as its " zero ".. when the motor is idling it reads about 5500rpm.. and goes on from there..  I'm not sure at all why its doing this, but I've been shifting based on the sound of the motor ( going way into the redline ).. the bike is sounding normal when running, just the tach is reading off.. Anyone have any idea's why this is goin on ??
thanks,
Mike

Does it look like someone had opened the tach casing?  If so, it looks like someone pulled the needle off and did not insert it back at the right position.

MY guess is something has broken inside the Tachometer itself.

Either some little something is Between the Cup and Magnet or the Bearing needs Lubed.Usually if somethhing like that Happens you get Pointer Bounce.
