Title: "new" gs500 is here
Post by: debtman7 on April 03, 2007, 05:27:41 PM
Woohoo! I have that 'I just bought a used vehicle, what surprises await me?' feeling but the bike is beautiful and I can't find anything wrong with it. For a 1996 it seems pretty darn clean, and with only 3,600 miles it should last me a while.

Congratulations. i just bought my 'new' gs last fall. It was a '96 also with around 5,000 miles. Don't you like the frame color? That's one of my favorite things about the '96.

I have the same , but with a botched emerald-ish paintjob the previous owner put on it after dropping it ... I just put stickers on the bad spots lol ... I get compliments on it still hehe . someone told me that it's the "fastest year" ... anyone know the details on this ?

1998 is actually know to be the fastest year, especially when you get a hold of the orange ones :icon_mrgreen:

What a BEAUTY!!!! Looks like you got a great deal, debtman7!

Of course, it's the purple ones that are really the fastest, but the rest are pretty fast, too! ;)

There's another blazingly fast '96!

Quotesomeone told me that it's the "fastest year" ... anyone know the details on this ?

How fast a bike is can roughly be determined by the following, in order of importance:

1)  Fairings or naked.  Some dispute that fairings reduce drag.  Not so!  To prove it, get naked and run through a shopping mall.  Faster, huh?

2)  Number of chromed components.  These reflect photons, increasing speed.

3)  Width of rear tire.  Bigger tires put more HP to the road.

4)  Number of go faster stickers.  Hayabusa or "Type R" stickers add 20HP each, all others 1-4 HP.

ok but you have chrome flame stickersthis would have to more than five hp, exspecially on a blue and white bike. Right! :)

True dat!

Nice bike debtman7, looks to be in killer shape... and 3600 miles?? Killer.  I really like the '96 in red with that frame.  Sharp!
