Bought myself a 91 VX800 Sunday.... Hey it's a Suzuki Twin.... Shaftie too...
As you can see it suffered a tip over and killed the bars- faded paint and some scratches ( not many )... 36k on the clocks...
Gave it a good charging for more than a day. Got home from work and she fired right up!
The gauge pod/ gauge bracket (maybe the speedo innards?) and the switchgear on the bars is all the same as The Gs500e. So I already have most of the spares I need...No teling what else is the same...
And yeah I actually took it for a spin up and down the street with the bar bent the way it is...( I JUST HAD TO.) Just like the GS500e it needs better forks..( progressives soon to come...). There are some neat pipes made in OZ ( sound awesome..) that I'm checking on.

Grats! Nice bike
My local tire dealer has added the new Storms that replace the Azarro ST sport touring radials to their stock this year and since Avon has never shown approval of the fitment of a 150/70 radial on a 3.5" wheel in their tire charts I went searching thru their fitment guide looking for an exception. Guess what I found the other day?
The VX800 was a bike I liked when it came out, they took the torquey v-twin engine from the Intruder cruiser and put it in a standard UJM type bike. Nice package I think but I do prefer the smaller GS size bikes now, the VX came out 15-20 years ago when I was younger.
Their recommended tire fitment for the VX is the new Storms with a 150/70/17 rear tire on a 3.5x17 rear rim, same size as our GS500 rear rims. I take that as Avons approval of the fitment of the Storm rear on my GS. :thumb:
Thanks to the VX.
I had a VX for a few months last year. Yea the srinath GS bars fit well on it. That bike has 2 very different looking carbs on it ... strange. Its fine otherwise, the rear disc is same as a GS, but different bolt pattern ... :o
Cool.
Srinath.
I'm semi- looking for an alternate supplier ( Ie which other bike's rotor) is a straight bolt on. Do you remember how different the bolt pattern was Srinath?
Thinking of taking a Gs rotor to a machine shop for some precision drilling... Hell the GS rotors are half the cost new...and used gs500e rotors (tho not as plentiful as I'd like sometimes) are easier to come by. Mine might pass as is-I'd just like to be ready if it doesn't ( gotta throw the mic on it later).
Come on weekend! Crap...I have a gs to work on first....or not...
VX is 5 bolt, GS is 4, else all same, I drilled the rotor Dgyver gave me and used 3 bolts. Big deal, Its just for looks anyway for me.
Cool.
Srinath.
3 bolts is probably enough for a rear rotor....
I'd just have a hard time spending 30% of what I paid for the bike on one new brake rotor.... but I probably will.... Now to just figure out which front rotor fits it...just in case too.
Nice rainy weekend ahead....I'm sure the VX will get some attention this weekend... I'll just evict one of the GS's and stick a cover on it.
Hey I found a Nice set of Rotors ( low low miles ) at the dealership yesterday.
They were bolted to the VX800 ( wrecked-but might be fixable ) I bought with 3192 miles on it ... it's a shame -- this bike must have been perfect before the wreck.
Spares for a long time or another vx to park next to # 1.....
