hello all,
So, thanks to the torque specs by dgyver and photos from Kerry, I just finished changing the front brake pads on the '06f. I put on EBC FA231 as per info received here.
However, I just took a little test ride and I'm hearing kind of a "purr" like noise when I apply the brakes. It sounds almost like if you put a playing card in the spokes of a bicycle or in an ordinary house fan. It's not really loud but I can hear it through a full face helment. I'm too worried because it's not a squealing noise or a metal on metal noise. The brakes feel fine by the way. They stop well and have good response/feel.
Has anyone ever encountered this? Should I be worried? Perhaps, it'll go away with a little breaking in (no pun intended)...
Thanks,
Daron
My understanding is that the vents in the rotor will cause some noise from the air being trapped for a short time and popping when it's released...
Basically, if you have a vented rotor, you'll have a humming/fast popping noise when you brake...
But... There could be some other concern that I don't know about. :dunno_white:
ok,
That sounds reasonable. I had a BMW once that made the same noise but I thought it was just because of the ABS system.
and seeing as how the GS doesn't have ABS, it made me wonder.
Thanks for the response
BTW, is that a Honda c70 in your photo? The C90 Super Cub is still sold down here and you see them all the time with a mountain of miles on them. I can't imagine riding a C90 for 30,000 miles but they're a dime a dozen down here. :thumb:
no no, the GS has ABS... it just has "Self Modulated Stealth ABS"....
you'll never even know about it.
